Has anyone else had this problem with their cat?

One of my cat pees on EVERYTHING! We have taken her to the vet but were told she has nothing physically wrong with her and gave us tips on what could possibly help, but they haven't. My mom keeps saying it's our other kitty that makes her mad since she hates her but it was happening way before our younger one came along. She is very temperamental so if we make her mad she tends to go pee on something. We even got another cat box specifically for her but that hasn't really done much. I'm so sick of having to clean up her pee and worrying about if our house smells like cat pee or not! ugh... help?

I also posted this in Adoptive furmommies!

I had this problem and it has now died down. The only time my cat urinates outside of the box is if there is a pile of clothes on the floor. It still sucks but it teaches DH to put his dirty clothes in the hamper instead of next to the hamper :-)

Does your cat urinate in random places? Or is it the same few places?

I put down foil when he would go (behind the bedroom door) and I also sprinkled cayenne pepper.

Also, I got this plug-in called Feliway (you can get it on Amazon for about $30) it is pretty pricey but it totally works. It lets out cat pheramones that calms the cat. My cat never freaked out but he would pace around the house sometimes and I think he just has a nervous personality. I had the Feliway plugged in next to the cat tower where he sleeps at and he hasn't urinated since (except for the occasional pee on the dirty clothes) but that is super rare.

Another thing to check - have you changed the type of litter since she started doing this? They can be picky on the litter you have. If you haven't changed it, try to change it to something else and that may help.

I honestly think Feliway would be best for your situation though. GL!

Great, thank you so much for these suggestions! She does generally do it the same areas so I'm "thankful" for at least that much. I had another cat who used to pee everywhere to, as well as piles of clothes. So 2 cats peeing other than in the cat box at the same time...such a nightmare. Anyways, we've changed the brand of cat littler a couple times during this situation but I don't think the type we used mattered to her, I think her problem was our other cat who she hates uses it. So that's why we bought the 2nd one and try to keep the other one away from it. I could try the foil and cayenne pepper now and will definitely look into the Feliway. I'm willing to try anything at this point. We even bought a vacuum specifically for pet stains and odor, which does clean up the stains and takes out odor, but doesn't prevent it from happening again.

If this continues, I'm going to have to give her to my mom. Which I don't want to do, but I may have no other choice because I don't want to keep her outside. I've had way too many bad experiences with my cats being outdoors.

oh lord yes! my cat hated dh so much that everytime he would walk in the room she would pee it got really bad! To the point she was peeing all over our furniture. Since there was nothing wrong with her physically I put her on amitryptline and that saved her life! Literally, she was one accident away from the humane society where they would've euthanized her:( which is why I held off for so long. After the first dose I noticed a difference in her and after a few months I was able to wean her off of it. We just moved into a new house from a 2 bedroom condo and she's been so much happier here since theres so much more space. I keep the rx filled just in case but so far we've been great!

Here's a picture I took of her on Christmas day letting dh hold her which would've NEVER EVER happened before

I cannot stress how awesome the meds are and they're super cheap too! If she's hard to pill they can mix into a tasty liquid you can put in her food or shoot it straight down her throat. I should also say that meds were our absolute last resort after trying everything else you could think of with no success I really didn't want to medicate her for life and it's not ideal giving meds to a cat but it sure beats the other alternative.
