While different fad diets may help you drop a few lbs (usually of water) quickly, as soon as you start eating normally again, the weight will come right back on.  (not to mention, whenever you go to some exteme like that, i.e. eating only limited kinda of foods, like a watermelon diet, you'll actually feel WORSE because you won't be taking in enough calories to run your body).

The only surefire way to lose weight and keep it off is decrease your intake and increase your calorie burining (i.e. working out).  The amount of weight you want to lose isn't huge and you've got 2 months to do it in.  Some slight modifications to your eating habits, coupled with even minimal increased activity (even a 30 minute brisk walk 3 nights per week) could easily melt off that additional weight.

Eat more lean meats (skinless chicken, for instance) with steamed veggies and whole grains (you don't have to give up ALL carbs, but do try to eat BETTER carbs).  The fiber in vegetables, fresh fruits and whole grains will help you feel fuller longer.  Also, make sure you're drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day (this, too, will help you feel fuller).

Good luck!!!

let's see-- 3-4kg is around 7 lbs?

freezer dinners can be a good idea and they help me with portion control.  most only have 200-400 cals in the entire meal, and they are a quick way to loose the pounds if you had trouble limiting yourself.  substitue with salad and loads of veggies in fat free dressing.

i agree with nee... work out a lot, and walking is great.  find a best bud like your MOH and just walk around town with her.

Subscribe to the Hungry-Girl newsletter.  www.hungry-girl.com

My FI and I lost about 10 lbs each using her recipes and doing 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times per week.

The Tofu Shirataki noodles she always talks about are the best!  You use them in place of pasta but the whole bag only has 40 calories.

get tested for PCOS. I know its really random but its more common than people think so if you experience sudden weight gain that exercise and strict diet can't get rid of, esp in the middle section, PLEASE go to your doctor. For the longest time I thought I was doing something wrong so I spent a lot of time and money working with personal trainers when all along, I just needed treatment to turn my metabolism back on!

Okay ladies, don't laugh at me... but I'm doing the 6 week body make over. I am the type of person who really doesn't give in to "this" kind of TV stuff but for some reason I decided to give it a try.

I hate the word DIET!! I hate hearing that I have to eat HEALTHY. Just hearing it makes me discouraged. With this 6 week body make over, surprisingly, I'm never hungry. You eat about 6 times a day. The food is pretty darn good too. With this 6 wk bdy mkover I have learned so much about eating/cooking healthy. I'm a SALT/flavor loverrr! So, I for  sure thought I wouldn't be able to survive this. But there are so many other ways to improvise salt. ie: green bell pepper, garlic, onions can really make a dish flavorful.

I just made my dinner. Chicken Stir Fry over steamed rice. Yummmy. It was really good and I did not cook with any oils, soy sauce, premade stir fry sauce, salt ect. Can you believe I made the juice out of water? I know. It sounds grouse but so Delicious. I've been doing this for 2 weeks now. I feel so much better inside and out. My energy level is out the roof and my complexion has improved drastically.

Here are some quick tips to eating healthier:

  1. Substitute Fatty Flavors for: Green bell peppers/onions/fresh garlic/Green onions/cilantro/White wine

  2. Make ur yogurt fun: fresh berries and granola

  3. Have a sweet tooth? Slice apples and add Cinnamon (u can bake it too) or buy Russell Stovers "sugar free" candy. I really love it.

  4. Beverage: H2o is always best, but if u need something with flavor, go with SOBE LEAN. No sugar/No Carbs. It taste pretty good too!

  5. STEAM ALL VEGIES

  6. Try n bake all meat

  7. Try to stay away from RED meat

Hope this helps :)

I am the biggest foodie there is! I LOVE LOVE LOVE food. I just started this today. It's not a diet...I don't like that word, it's made up by me because it's something realistic that I can do. Why do something if you feel that it's not you. For instance I can never give up carbs. Or I see you hate water, do what is best for you. Here's what I'm doing.

1. No soda

2. less alcohol. (notice I say less because I know I just can't stop drinking all together)

3. More water

4. No eating after 8pm

5. 1 salad a day (for me I love Trader joes chicken salad)

That's it. Bascially, how I'm drinking booze less is by my rule no eating after 8pm. I can eat whatever I want during the day and I don't feel deprived. At night, yes it's hard. But I do now drink water at bar's. I can still do happy hour at bars. But will see I'm hoping that not eating 3 hours before I go to bed will help alot.

some suggestions:

eat every 2 hours; 3 meals with a snack in the morning(about 2 hours after breakfast, and afternoon (about 2 horus after lunch)

there are snackpacks of lower calorie versions of cookies, chips, etc...

fruits/veggies are always great!

water water water

work your ass off at the gym or walk/run; lift weights-- the increased muscle mass will help you butn calories while you are passive...

do not get on the scale every day - rather monitor your success with how your clothes are feeling

your output must exceed your intake, otherwise you'll just be spinning your wheels

ok i got a great website that I always use for calories and to know what I can eat and what I cant.. its called DietFacts.com  You could look at most restuarants menus and their calories... I love it.. this website really helped me loose most of my weight. I would always look here before going out to eat to see what I can have and what I should stay away from.. you'll be amazed.

also, keep in mind that it will be more of a lifestyle chnage to keep it off - if you lose weight for one event (wedding) and then go back to your old eating and activity habits that you had before, the weight may creep back...

losing weight is half the battle - keeping it off is the other

=)  =)  =)

do you keep a food and activity jounrnal??

My new secret is "The Biggest Loser Cardio Max" DVD. I have lost 10lbs in 5-6 weeks, and so has FI. Also, as the others said, you have to limit the food. My biggest advice it to cut out alcohol completely. I did that a few months ago and lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks, and that was the only change I made.

Best of luck!
