has anyone's early gender ultrasound been wrong?

We went to an ultrasound when I was about 17 1/2 weeks. As most of you know the lady said it was a 100% girl. I still feel like its not a girl. I am even having dreams that its not a girl. We go in Friday to our 21 week gender check with the doctor. I was wondering is there any chance the lady was wrong? Did that happen to any of you?

No experience here...but my SIL was told it was a girl and then for two months after she had vivid dreams that it was a boy! haha...so weird....but she is still a girl!

My mom was told my youngest brother was a girl, and he definitely was not! That was 1990 though, ultrasounds have come a long way since then I think!

I have heard though that it's more likely that the u/s tech make mistakes with girl babies as opposed to boy babies, meaning they say girl when it's really a boy, but I have no idea how true that is.

I went for a 3D/4D ultrasound a couple of weeks ago...needless to say the baby was not very cooperative, however the tech was able to tell it was a girl. I thought from the beginning it was a boy. I'm thrilled with my baby girl however I just can't shake the feeling that it is a boy...lol. I have already been buying pink, because I feel like they wouldn't tell you for sure unless they were positive, but lets just say I can't wait to go for my 20 week ultrasound in a couple of weeks, just so I can be reassured...lol:)

I went at 17 weeks 5 days and my ultrasound was right :) I want to say that girls are easier to see when its early on because in the beginning they all look like boys with a little nub but when you get closer to 20 weeks the nub in a girl starts to form into the girly parts kwim? Plus they can see the 3 lines :)

Did they see the 3 lines? I think thats the only way to know for sure its a girl - in our early one they couldn't see the lines so she told us that she thought it was a girl but that she wouldn't paint the nursery pink yet - but about 2 weeks later we got a 3d one and it was super clear - you could see the three lines perfectly!

Ok good. I feel much better. We painted the room. Bought a car seat and stroller (pink of course) and have been gifted enough newborn clothes to last her until shes bigger. I was so nervous she tech was wrong but now i'm feeling good.

I don't want to be a "debbie downer" here but I personally know 3 people that have been given the wrong sex after their gender ultrasound!  All of them found out the truth only once the baby was born.  Funny enough, all three of them were told they were having girls, and all three of them turned out to have boys!  Isn't that strange?

Anyway, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, but I don't think they can guarantee 100% that they are correct when they tell you.  Here in Canada, the ultrasound techs are not allowed to say ANYTHING to you during the u/s and you only find out the sex once you go talk to your doctor (which is a real PITA since you generally have to wait to see your doc after your u/s appt at least a week) so they really keep you in suspence!

In the Netherlands they will tell you that "very likely" it will be a boy/girl in an early ultrasound. To avoid to tell parents the wrong gender.

(I had my 20wks anatomy u/s without DH cause he was still living in the US by then. I asked the tech to write down the gender on a card so DH & I could find out together 3 weeks later when he moved over here. Even on the card it said (in Dutch) "pretty sure a boy".

When we went in for our 30wks u/s there was no doubt anymore hahaha.

I've been having vivid dreams about having a boy. But I've had 4 ultrasounds that all said girl. So if she comes out with boy parts, I'm going to be pretty pissed. Especially since everything I have is for a girl.

My SIL had an early ultrasound and was told it was a girl with her first and he was definitely a boy! She found out at 20 weeks that her 'girl' was really a boy.

My friend's sister had an early ultrasound done (maybe around the same time as you??- I forget) But they told her they were 90% certain it was a girl. So they go out, do the whole nursey in pink, but all of their stuff in pink. A couple weeks later wouldn't you know- they have themselves a happy baby boy :( Obviously they weren't too upset- a baby is a baby is a baby right lol.

On our ultrasound it was pretty obvious it was a boy, we saw right away. My intuition (and DH's) had said girl and I continued to have dreams up until I delivered that I would have a girl.

I have also heard of a few oops when they were told girl and it turned out to be a boy. I have never heard of the opposite happening.

I was told two boys at 16 weeks and it was very obvious! I do believe it is girls that end up being boys but I never heard of boys ending up girls.

I am so lost.. Is this the second or first time you have trouble at a gender ultrasound???

You seem to have to worst luck with the elective ultrasounds.

I think I should have been smarter and stayed away. The first time was just a gut feeling of boy this time they actually told me told and my doctor says girl.
