HCG Diet

Anybody out there who has tried the HCG diet? My FI and I are thinking of trying it, but it's a little expensive ($80 for 26  days). I was wondering what your opinion was on it. How much weight did you lose and in how many days? Most importantly, did you keep the weight off? Lastly, are you able to workout while taking it? I noticed on their site that while taking it that you only consume 500 calories a day. I was wondering if you can keep your energy while on it and do a workout without getting super exhausted. Any opinions would be helpful. I want to know if it's worth it.

TIA

Ashley

I don't know anything about it, but 500 calories is NOT ENOUGH TO BE HEALTHY!!! You need to take in like 1200 calories minimum for a woman and like 1600 for a man! These kind of diets are basically the same as anorexia. You force your body to eat its own fat and other tissue for energy, which sounds good in theory, but is actually not sustainable (hard to keep the weight off) and not at all healthy.

I had a classmate that tried this and by the 2/3 day she fell out.  Its unhealthy and life threatening.  The human body cannot survive off of 500 calories per day.  Trust me the weight wont stay off because the little reserves that you are giving your body will be stored in the liver as fat and that is when the weight will start to come back on one you stop your quick diet fix.  The liver then uses these fat reserves to build energy and once it notices that its unable to, organs begin to shut down and you become anemic, and start to lack the necessary nutrients your body will need to function.  Here is something to think about: "to lose 1 pound a week eliminate 500 calories/wk from your diet slowly and to lose 2 pounds per week eliminate 1000 calories per week from your current diet."  You will see the difference.  If you don't like the gym, simply walk around your community.  Find a work at home exercise or activity that you love to do.  Swimming helps and it help you to stay fit.  I don't want what happened to my classmate to happen to you so please don't do this.  You cannot workout during this diet you become so week and vulnerable that you are hardly able to walk. Hope this helps.

I tried it for about 3 days. The HCG made me sick, I'm very sensitive to hormones so after the second dose I would start throwing up. That just didn't work while I was at work. Actually started some rumors that I was prego, which I was not.

I ordered it off eBay for pretty cheap after a mom I babysit for tried it and lost 20 lbs. I have yet to try it but I know it worked for her and she did not feel miserable doing it. She said just don't exercise while on the diet.

500 calories? That's a death wish. Just start eating better and working out! I've been doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and it works AWESOME!

Stop trying to put your hopes into these expensive diet fads. They're unsafe and will get you absolutely nowhere. Start subsituting hamburger meat for ground turkey, eat more whole wheat stuff, and drink tons of water! This should go without saying, but don't eat junk food either. Load up on a ton of veggies and fruits and you'll be amazed at your results.

Seriously though, 500 calories does not allow your body any room to stay healthy. You should be eating at LEAST 1300 calories a day. Just another dangerous fad.
