Help! I Need Some Hope!

I love the nostalgia and sentimentality of the hope chest, but I want one with a bit more of a modern twist and probably not that large.  I was hoping an in-law would give me, the only granddaughter, my grandma's hope chest, but she insists it's better used as her TV stand :\  Right now my poor wedding stuff is in an (albeit pretty & pink) rubbermaid bin and I have the perfect empty corner in our bedroom waiting to house this modern "hope chest".  My parents were willing to buy me one for my birthday...which came and went in July, so now I'm on the hunt for a Christmas gift idea.

I'd love recommendations or ideas, because I'm having a hard time finding something!  Where do you have your wedding items stored?

I kind of like this one from C&B, but think it is too large, and would prefer the lid opening from the top.  I'm afraid I'll end up with a storage ottoman, but I want something more wood-ish possibly (than fabric) that can be long-term.  TIA!

Thanks Becca! I was actually looking at a store up here that carries Lane, but I wasn't a fan of their options. I love the last one you posted!

I did contact an Amish company that will make a custom size for any of their designs (since most pre-made ones are too large) and I was shocked at their pricing. I know it's good quality, just more than I imagined spending.

I'll be considering all options still :-)

You're welcome.  Too bad you can't get down here to the states.  I know that in North Carolina, there are a lot of artisians that make these.  I can't wait to see what you decide on.  : )

This is actually the exact one my parents bought for me years ago!

Here s some from photo 3126289-2

It didn't feel like my style too much then, but it's grown on me. We keep it in the office/guest bedroom since it doesn't match the dark wood of the bedroom set. What's awful is that I only use it for random storage. Now that you've mentioned it, that would be a great place for those last few sentimental wedding items that I can't quite part with.

FCTF I am starting to debate keeping it in a different room!  I really wanted it in our bedroom, but for the standard size I don't want to add a piece of furniture that large.  I definitely think it is a nice place for wedding sentimentals, and anything else that falls into the "sentimental" category :)

I was telling DH that this is why I want one...to store our sentimental wedding things.  : )

I love chests... hope that is!! ha ha!  We are all so cool with our little innuendos!! LOL

I want a hope-type chest for the entry way of our house... something you can sit on and store things in, and maybe hang some super cute hooks and a mirror above it.  You can put one of these anywhere, really... a large hallway, living room, family room, dining room, even a bedroom!! :)

Allie I do agree that you can put them anywhere! My only future thought is if my wedding keepsakes are in it I want the chest in a "safe" room. With my luck I'd find a (future) kids friend walking around my house wearing my garter as a headband! Haha
