Help me bustle my dress!!

I have a dilemma...Here's a picture of my gown:

and the back:

Notice how the cut is sort of assymetrical-ish? I just got it back from alterations and the seamstress created a really weird bustle, explaining that it was the only way given the cut of the gown. She basically took one corner of the gown and pinned it to another side so I have this weird floating piece of fabric going across my butt. Is she right? Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks!

Even though the dress is unique can they do different traditional bustles? I would keep it down to one or two points though to maintain the integrity of the dress. Is there any way she can help you experiment to see traditional one points? Also does the wedding featuring your dress have any pics of the bustle used?

My friend who got married in May had a similar style dress and they did a one-point bustle in the center and it ended up just breaking. She ended up carrying it all night in her hand. It might be that the seamstress had to do it that way for support so you don't fall apart while you're dancing. If you take all your photos before you bustle it may not be so annoying. I hope it works out, maybe some of the other girls have good ideas.

Update...I went back there this morning with my mom. Note to self: If I'm ever unhappy with something and want a change...take mom!! She walked in, snapped her fingers, and demanded the bustle be changed. And the seamstress played around with it a bit and did exactly what you suggested Kohler...she did a French bustle in the back and gathered some of the fabric on my hip (sounds kind of weird but it actually is really beautiful and unique). I'll post pics next week when I go in for my second fitting. Yeah!! I'm so excited! Mom pulled through :)
