Help! Need suggestions for Minimoon staycation!

So ladies I need some advice. I've been putting the pressure on FI to book a hotel for our wedding night for a few months. Guess he's a bit of a procrastinator and didn't believe me when I told him all the hotels in town are ridicously expensive or already booked! (The snow birds are fleeing the snow!) we can't afford a real honey moon so were staying in town. Anyways so yesterday he called me in full panic mode while I was at work. I panicked raced to our apartment to find him in near tears. Basically he booked a two night stay at a hotel and something happened to his computer and they ended up only booking for one night. He feels like he totally screwed up and so upset. I didn't know what to say other then it's ok.

So my question to you ladies is what can I suggest to FI that would make things more special so he feels less like a screw up, would be fun to do, not a budget buster, and is just different (or romantic).

I live in Naples fl, which is beautiful but unless you like golf or expensive shopping there isn't much to do. Suggestions please!

I really wanted a get away honeymoon and he really wanted a nice reception so I catered to him. I know I will love our day and well get a honeymoon when he can get the time off from work. (He can't get off after the wedding so we have to wait till spring or summer break) so I had hoped a nice three day weekend at least in a nice place. :P I guess one day is ok too. But now what to fill the weekend with other then going home and doing chores. Lol!

naples botanical gardens -$12.95 per person

and maybe a picnic.  is there a local bakery that you could stop by and get something special? we have one near us that has lunch too (soups, salads, and sandwiches) they have a really great crossant sandwich.  gettting something like that to go with a couple pieces of cake or pie or cupcakes and a bottle of wine.  would be a nice romantic thing to do and not too much money.

are there any great little cities or towns within a 2 hour drive?  if so, maybe check out a hotel or b&b there.  or just drive there and spend the day.  i live is greenville, sc and atlanta, ga; myrtle beach, sc; hendersonville, nc; ashville, nc; charlotte, nc; highlands, nc; and lake lure, nc are all within a 4 hr drive.  each is a great city or town with tons of things to do.  maybe you have some gems near you too.

What do you guys have planned for the first day?

My husband says to have your FI call the place back and tell them and spin so that they made a mistake for your stay - perhaps they will find a way to accommodate you. *We hustle to make things happen in this household for crunch time issues lol - his words...smh*

If you still have money leftover, perhaps he can book a stay at the Embassy Suites for the other night.  They serve a full breakfast and they have the manager's reception which serves free wine and alcohol for 2 hours.  Then go to a really nice restaurant in the area that you have maybe always wanted to try that evening.  Dress up and make it that much more special (That's what we did for NYE in ATL and it was fun).

Maybe the next day you can go a winery in area or not too far from where you live - some wineries are not t hat expensive.  Depending on the winery you can choose to tour the whole winery or get a short tour with wine tasting or wine/cheese tasting if they have a cellar.

I love wine just in case you couldn't tell :)

I know when we lived in VA, I really didn't take advantage of all of the museums or anything like that only a few.  That may be something to do.  We just went to ATL for New Year's and toured the CNN Center.  So any attractions that you normally wouldn't go too, take advantage of them during that time.

Couples massages are always great too!

Just throwing some things out there for you :)             Naples Attractions
