Help: Shutterfly/wtf ever wedding albums

Soooo... I won a free 20 page, 8x11 shutterfly album from David's Bridal. Yaaaaaaaaaayokay that's enough.

I've gone through my 900+ photos and found 250 or so to choose from for the album. But I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to organize it, layouts, if having 6 to a page is too small, etc.

Anyone ever done an album like this from shutterfly, blurb, or whatever? Tips? Suggestions? How did you organize it? like getting ready pictures, then family, then ceremony. Any little issues to keep in mind?

:( It's half done right now but I don't have the eye for this kind of thing.

I didn't do it on those sites- I used MyPublisher. I used this as my parent albums cause they were bogo :D Here is the link to it

I kinda grouped similar stuff together. I definintely tried not to put too much onto one page- but started to toward the end because I wanted more pictures and didn't want to pay a boat load for all the extra pages lol. Hope that helps a litle!

It does! I'm running into that issue. I don't want to put so many pictures to one page but I only get 20 free! I should just price check it.... it might be worth it.

I feel so lost putting it together in a cohesive manner. I think I have some detail shots, some of the girls, some of the guys, and four pages for the reception. But I don't want it to look like a third grade art project.

I did my own using Picaboo, and yes, it was definetly time consuming!!! I did mine in order of the day...getting ready, ceremony, etc. I also kept it a little simpler, more along the lines of one that I would have ordered from the photog.  If I ever get around to making a smaller one, I would have loads more pics in it!

Here's a link to it

I used MyPublisher- but I basically organized it from start to finish- getting ready, seeing each other for the first time- pictures we took before the ceremony, then the ceremony, then the party- ending with a goodnight kiss!

I'm kind of dreading this! I got 2 mixbook coupons from Groupon but I don't know where to begin with making an album so I am procrastinating. Good luck!

I did my photo books with Shutterfly, and it can be frustrating when you only have specific layouts that you can use.
Are you able to add pages and just pay for the extras?

I used shutterfly to create a photo book of our engagement pics and I think the most we put on one page was 4 but some were bigger then others so you could prob make it work I can't remember how it looked... I will have to look tonight at it and see the size of them when I get home to remember for sure but I don't remember thinking geez these are so small ;) here is a link the the book if you want to see how they were layed out... Keep in mind it was our engagement pics not wedding lol

I did a pretty elaborate parents album via mixbook.  I have some personal info in it, so I don't want to just post it willy-nilly, but if anyone wants to see it, I'd be happy to pm the link.  Mine is 100 pages long though... lol There were soooo many pictures that I wanted to include and I didn't want to just shove a ton on each page.

Here are some samples of some of the page spreads in my book:

Thanks so much everyone! Seeing the different looks of y'all's books actually helps things come together. And makes soooo much more sense.

I keep trying to just shove too many pictures and I think it might end up looking super cluttered. Or I'm asking myself if I *really* need the pictures of him with his parents, me with his parents, he and I with his parents, etc in there or if I can cut that down. Aaaaand of course trying not to make it a shrine to me. Which is difficult; I was clearly the best dressed there.

When I was putting it together, I tried to think of what pictures went best with each other - common themes I guess.  And yeah, I tried not to hog the book.  *wink*  :)  I also had fun with using pictures taken by myself, family, and friends in addition to the photographer - for instance the disposable camera picture page.

I think it really depends on what you want the book to be.  I wanted to remember all aspects of it, so my book was long and comprehensive, but I've also seen a bunch of books where people really just took favorite shots and pictures that they felt captured the day and put those into a much smaller (then mine at least) book and they also look great!  :)

If you go to this link, you can browse a bunch of different wedding albums for ideas:  http://www.mixbook.com/gallery/wedding?page=1&v=2

I used mixbook to put together books for the rents.  Wedding pictures in my bio are from my book.  Hope it helps!

P.S. - it is hard getting started, but then you start adding, designing, moving, etc and then you breathe and it's done.  whew!
