Help Venue Hunting: The Sequel

You were all so helpful when I asked for tips previously here.

We've since decided that a City venue would be best since a lot of guests will be from out of town and it'll be easier for them to stay in the City.

So the dream now is to find a venue (1) in the City (2) with a view, and (3) small enough to not dwarf a party of ~60 people. Overall budget is about $15,000 (for everything).

Things I've looked at:

1. University City Club

  • FI loves it, but I was hoping for something more modern.

2. Hotel Vitale

  • Awesome terrace for ceremonies, but it's not quite working out in terms of dates.

3. Westin St. Francis

  • The dream! But food & beverage minimum alone is $15,000.

4. Intercontinental Hotel

  • Waiting to hear back from the catering manager.  They have smaller rooms that could fit our party.

Did you check The Fairmont SanFran?  Rina Mae had her wedding there at around 70 guests and it was gorgeous for a small wedding!  I think Jennifer Skog has posted all her detail pictures on the blog already.

Fairmont will run you over 15k.

Is it only inside the city that you are looking at?

And welcome back! :)

Not sure if this is something you're interested in but SF City Hall has some sort of package for $4k for ceremony (which would be GORGEOUS because you get the rotunda space!), but then you'd have to find something else for your reception that's a bit scaled back.  Just a thought =)

I looked into the Stanford Faculty Club and it didn't really appeal to me. I'm not aware of anything else on campus where you can host a wedding. Is there something I'm not aware of? :)

I can try to find out.  We had some TTD photos done over there and it's such a gorgeous campus.  Have you heard from Intercontinental yet?

Aw, thanks!  And I totally agree. Stanford is gorgeous! I really wanted to know if they had any other spot to hold a wedding; otherwise, I was going to make a point of taking some engagement shots there instead.

I had to track down the catering manager on their website, but I finally got a response! Haven't seen the wedding packages yet, so I'm not sure what how their costs stack up.  They should be getting back to me early next week--I hope.

Thanks for all your help, btw. :)

SanFran, I PM'd you. InterContinental has ballrooms with windows, since you want a view.

Mandarin Oriental is nice too, I looked into it but my party was too big so maybe it's suitable for you.

Try Sir Francis Drake near Union Square.

City Club is beautiful, but yeah, not modern.

Try the Green Room. I think they're only available certain times of the year.

Getting married in the city is sooo fun! We loved it.

Yes!  The Sir Francis Drake is gorgeous too!!  Actually I think they have a really good deal for packages and their smaller ballroom is really pretty.  If you want the packaging prices and menu, I have it SanFran.  I was going to sign a contract with them initially, but then our guest list got too out of control and our budget went through the roof so FI said no.  It would've been our 1st choice reception site otherwise.

Do you have any connection to the Marine Corps?  You could look into the Marines' Memorial Club and Hotel.

Hi!!

I am working with one of my brides who is really close to booking this venue. Its called The Winery.

Its a new wine tasting/events room on Treasure Island. I called the guy to get more info and they have many ways to use their space with smaller rooms on the second floor for smaller parties if they wish to use them. you can use their downstairs wine room as well as an outdoor tent option right on the bay. This is just one picture from their website.
