HELP! Warned about photographer but already booked! Anyone know George Street Photo & Video?

Hi all,

My fiance and I booked George Street Photography & Videography after checking out many photography companies online. We love their work and the price was competitive. After going to their NY office and choosing our photographer, we booked with them.

My D-O-C (who I booked with after the photographer) recently informed me that when she saw who my photographer is red flags went up because she remembers reading about horror stories and bad reviews. She said she even asked some of her photography friends in the industry who confirmed her concerns.

My fiance and I just had our engagement session and the photographer seemed very nice, and seemed to know enough about angles and stuff. Haven't seem the pictures yet, but I guess that will give me an idea of what to do also.

HELP! Does anyone know anything about George Street? Personal experiences? Reviews? Don't know what to do!

I have never heard of this photography company perhaps because I do not live in your area. However I did look up the company and saw some very good reviews and some not so good.  I don't know what part of NYC you live in otherwise I would have done it for you but if you go in the vendor section of PW and specify what area you live in, you may be able to find the vendor.  I saw the name but for some reason I couldn't get to it, it said there were 8 reviews already.

On previous reviews I read online of this company, it seemed not all of the photographers were rated the same.  Did you get to see the photos that the actual photographer has done that will be doing the wedding?

I hope you can research it and keep your mind at ease...like I said it may have been a particular photographer versus the entire company.

Take the online reviews with a grain of salt (not the PW reviews,  but other sites like Google) because on average peopl are more likely to get on and write a review if they had a negative experience rather than a positive one. And some people are just picky and hard to please!

I would see what your experience with the Epics is like, and if it's not good or you still have a bad vibe, then maybe look for something else. I would comb through your contract first and see what it says about cancelling and how much money you would be out, or if there is any kind of satisfaction guarantee.

Maybe it will work out just fine and your photog will be excellent! I have my fingers crossed for you!

Sorry never heard about this photography. But just by looking at the reviews from just couple of weeks ago there wasnt much of complains about them. Majority of the reviews writen were rated with 5 stars.

Go here and on the right side where it goes about the company click on the "99 google reviews"

Everyone will have their own opinions and experiences. Just take your own judgement after the engagement pictures and decide on whether you feel they are still a good fit for the wedding. The end fact is that the pictures are important because they are all you will have after the big celebration.

Hoping it all works out. I know Ive had experience with a photographer where they did a crappy job for us but did amazing with others so everyone has a different experience. Im not in your area so ive never heard of this photographer. If you had a good experience with the e pics I would say go with your gut

Thanks everyone so much for your input and support!

Our E Pics came out GREAT! I'm a "photographer" myself (mostly of raptors and other birds) so I tend to be more critical about pictures but I'm very happy with our pics! Some of the colors were a little washed out after they edited but that's nothing that can't be altered. There were small things like, my fiance's scarf ends were hanging out of his jacket so I wish the photographer would have caught that and told him to tuck them in, but overall the shots were really good! We're staying with our original choice and hoping the wedding pics are just as good if not better!

Thanks again!!!

Michelle

Everyone's experiences are different. Most people will write a bad review than a good review.

I had the BEST reviews for my photog and when the actual photog that came and shot the wedding was fantastic. BUT the company was crap. Nobody commented on the company and how crappy they were. It took me 6 months and 300 dollars MORE to get my photos and almost a year to get out wedding album which I could have done myself with photoshop and snapfish......
