Hi Emma - welcome and congrats on your engagement! You could incorporate pine cones (regular or sprayed with fake snow) and blue ornaments.

Congrats and welcome!  What kind of room are you having your reception in?  I'm getting married around Christmast as well.

Our reception room used to be part of a dairy farm, but now all renovated very elegantly...so we are sticking with the "country farm" vibe.  I don't have pictures yet, but we are doing wooden boxes filled with vine balls, little strands of lights, one tall votive like candle, and some ribbons among the vine balls that match the wedding colors.

Have fun!

yay! another holiday wedding! I'm up 12-27. We're using stockings instead of pew bows. We're also lining the aisle with poinsettas. (I have 10 or 20 fake ones that look real I'll be willing to pass on if you're december 2009)

December was not our prime choice. We wanted March but had to move it.

We're also giving ornaments as favors. Yay for holiday weddings!!

Hi! My FI and I are going to have a winter wedding too (12/20/09). We are going doing white and silver and the theme is crystal chic (Lots of glass and crystals and rhinestones) and hundreds of candles. Let me give you some words of advice... START EARLY!!!! We have booked our venues, but it took us more than 6 months to find a place (reception) because of all of the holiday parties going on. We had to compromise and move our date to Sunday, otherwise we would could not get a place (they wanted us to buy out the places and have it cost close to 25000 for food and rentals or they said no period). Now that that's out of the way here are some fun ideas...

1. Ask your guest to bring a Christmas ornament from their tree and put their name on it somewhere (if they can) so you can use it for your first Christmas tree as man and wife.

2. Use Christmas ornaments as place cards. you can hang them on a tree or set them out on a bed of "snow"

3. Since you are going to use white as main color, you can rent synthetic white trees that come with lights on them already and drape strands of crystals on the them and have them be a part of the background decor. They will add a lot of sparkle and give you the winter look.

4. Go to Z Gallery (if you have one near you) Their clearence iteams are amazing, espercially the after christmas sales arounf Jan and Feb

Good Luck!!!! Let me know if you need anything...

Michaels has already put out some Christmas stuff and there's an aisle with blue & silver, browns, and black & silver sparkly frames, vases, votives, mirrors, candle trays galore!  You should definitely check it out esp while they have that coupon circulating for 40% off and I was told they're going to have a coupon in the mail/paper for 50% off on Sunday & Monday for Labor Day sales with a 40% coupon for the remainder of the week.  Check that out! =)

http://www.michaels.com/coupons/081908/coupon.html

This one's good til the 30th.

And this week Hobby Lobby has 25% off regular priced items, but I'd personally hold out for their 40% that shows up every other week on the website. Their Christmas decor is out too and 30% off or 50% off I can't remember.

I think it'd be cute to alternate centerpieces on the tables, some with all white flowers & candle votives, and some with big vases filled with blue & silver ornaments w/ candle votives all around.  Your guests can take the ornaments home or you just scored tree decorations. =)  In my opinion every one wins...and I personally just love fresh flowers.

Oh I love love love winter weddings! Hence why my wedding is in January. The 31st to be exact! I just love all the input everyone has given you!

I think its a good idea about the stockings instead of pew bows! I just think that is so cute. I am having my wedding in January so I don't think that would make much sense! But i really think it would go for a winter wedding! Keep me posted on your details! :]
