Honeymoon Registry

Hi Ladies!  You guys have always provided great advise so here it is...  My FH already have a home together with our kids and pretty much have everything that we need/wanted.  I've been asked if we were registered anywhere and all I can say is, "No, not really we already have everything."  How do I put it that we are going to register for a Honeymoon or just monetary gifts would be fine without my guests being insulted?  I already don't like asking for help or money so I already feel uncomfortable about it, but that is one thing that we are coming up short on our budget.

Thank you for any feedback suggestions!

Hello dear! I was in the same predicament. My DH already owned a home and then when I moved in, we had double of things so we didn't need anything either! When the invitations were sent out and there was nothing in there that said we were registered, people automatically got us cards with gift cards or money in it. My DH's cousin had the website for their honeymoon registry on their invitations where people could add money for them to do an excursion they wanted to do or add money to restaurants they may have wanted to try, etc. I hope I helped a little!

Times are changing so frequently in etiquette and what is acceptable when it comes to this subject. My FI will also be combining two homes and will need nothing in terms of household items. We will register for a couple upgrade items and then I will pass mine down to my kids. The best way to get this out is word of mouth.

I think your response when asked is perfect. It tells them we don't need items for our home so therefore most people will then give money or gift cards. We will have a honeymoon registry that will be listed on our wedding website. The website information will be included on a Guest Information card that is included in our invitation inserts.

I did just what Kim said.  I put a separate card in our invitations that had our wedding website on it.  On the wedding website I listed our honeymoon registries.  (I had two.  One for the cruise and one for Disney World.)  It worked out just fine!

I have heard of people registering for activities for their honeymoon. So someone could get you a zip lining excursion as a wedding gift. I think that’s really neat!

We honeymooned on Kauai and stayed at the Sheraton Kauai Poipu.  Starwood has their own honeymoon registry and we loved using it! If you go to the Starwood Hawaii site you'll find it on their webpage.... or on the Sheraton Kauai's site. Their registry comes wth a free wedding website -- which is where we posted about our honeymoon registry.  We then shared the wedding website (which also had a blog, photo albums, details on our wedding day, etc.)  with our friends and family so we didn't have to worry about the "etiquette".  They went to our wedding website for information and photos and saw our honeymoon registry link there.  What we loved about the Starwood program is that their registry has a list of all the things they offer or their concierge can arrange for you -- the funds were then waiting for us at Sheraton and we could just pay for everything from our resort account.  It was cool because it wasn't just a check...  and we didn't have to worry about the hassle of getting the money/check and worry about depositing it before our wedding.  Our family loved it because they bought us cool stuff and knew it was legit.  Even my grandma said she wished she could have used a honeymoon registry!
