My name is Melissa & I absolutely love being a hostess on PW : )
I have been a PW member since January 2010 (but I was a lurker for about 6 months prior to posting)
My wedding date was July 3, 2010
My wedding style/theme was a "colorful Colorado wedding loaded with modern details & creative personal touches"
Right now, I am working on ordering prints, writing thank you cards & scheduling my Trash the Dress for my wedding
My favorite thing about PW is the camaraderie, advice, and genuine helpfulness from everyone! Some of the PW girls even threw me a 2nd bachelorette party because my first one stunk!! I also love all of the cool features this site has between the checklists, blog, loads & loads of pictures, helpful vendor reviews & informative articles, this place certainly has something for everyone : )
My best PW skill is finding inspirational pictures for other brides as well as tapping into my own creativity to help inspire others with their DIY projects & wedding details.
Some PW groups that I love are "Trash the Dress", "Cake, Sweets & Treats" (because this is the group I own!), "Colorado Brides" and "Our First Home"
One PW tip that I have for newbies is to try not to take things personally! I know this is easier said than done. Honestly, I think everyone on here has made a post that didn't get much of a response & it's disappointing! Bump it up : ) I am always bumping my posts to get more of a response & I definitely encourage you to as well. Always think about how you title your posts as well, really vague titles may not catch people's attention & you may not get the response that you are looking for. Lastly, please help us hostesses keep PW a positive, supportive, fun place! There are a lot of different people on this board: different religions, different ethnic backgrounds, different wedding budgets, different sexual orientations, etc. Try to be respectful of EVERYONE because we want to maintain a community that is friendly & accepting. Before you hit "post" think of how you would feel if someone made this same comment to you...
basically "treat others the way you would want to be treated". Never be afraid to ask ?'s! I am happy to answer any ?'s that you may have, so PM if you ever need anything. I am so glad you are all here : )
