How big is a bridal shower?

My MOH asked me for a list of people to invite to the bridal shower. I wasn't sure who to invite, so I just gave her a list of all my first aunts and female friends. The list turned out to be a lot larger than we thought. I'm wondering if we should just invite my closest friends, and then the list would be 10 people. I dunno... what do you think?

I don't think a bridal shower has to be a certain size...it can be as large as you want it.

That said, if you think your Maid of Honor is hosting it entirely herself and is a little concerned about providing hospitality for an especially large group, then you can double-check with her to find out how many folks she is able to handle.

If she can't handle any more than 10, then another option might be to have your Maid of Honor handle the party for your closest friends, while you have a cousin or your mom put together another "Family Bridal Shower" for your aunts and other family memebers. That way everyone's covered, including your MOH.

I kinda of went through the same thing. I listed all of my aunts and girlfriends and the list was quite long, over 30 people. In the end, I talked to the MOH who is running the shower and she was fine with the list.

I'd talk to your MOH and go over the list with her. It could be that she's cool with having a big shower. (more gifts for you!) If you do decide to have a small shower, be careful who who choose not to invite. If you have gossipy friends like my mom does, then those not invited will find out.

You should check with your MOH first to see if she is comfortable hosting a bridal shower with a large number of people. And if she is, then you can keep your first list. If she is not, then you should trim down the list to just family and close friends. Yes, just be careful of who you are or are not inviting. You don't want anyone to feel left out.

Hosting can be expensive... especially if a smaller group could fit in her house, but a larger group would need to move to a restaraunt. Plus, by splitting friends and family you'd get to have two showers... ;)

I'm hosting one that's 91 people. She originally wanted to invite 191 people, but ended up splitting the list into two. So she has a shower for 100 people on saturday, and 91 on sunday. I've been only planning the sunday one, but was asked to help out w/ the saturday one as well.

wow 91 and 100 people?? That's more than some weddings, haha.

Hmm, I think you should invite however many people you're comfortable with and can be accomodated by the MOH.
