How do I deal with a pushy sis in law!!!

Here's the issue. My sis in law mentioned these coasters that she had seen online to me and I didn't like them. I told her that I wasn't interested in them and the colors didn't go with my theme. She said "oh ok, well I can help you pay for them if you'd like"...now where did I say that I wanted them? I don't get it but that's not all. So I showed her what I was planning to use as favors and she said "oh, well the coasters are classier"....wtf!!!! who cares what she thinks but now she went and complained to my bro that I didn't want the coasters and won't accept her help...am I crazy?  I swear this girl must be on something and if she is, she needs to share with me right now!!!!!  Ok, I feel better now that I griped about it.

tell her when she gets married she can buy the fckn coasters!

not meaning to insult anyone, but coasters are stupid - who uses only one coaster??  they usually come in a set right???

ditto what d1rty says!  My FSIL has a knack of being super bossy too - so I feel your frustration!  Tell her that you have already made the decision and that's that.

so BTW what favors did you pick out?

Just remember, she is soon-to-be family. Be nice and tell her that the coasters are an interesting idea, but that you and her brother decided on (fill in the blank). Then, be sure to give her a job to do, or ask her to help with something specific. It sounds like she just wants to help and to be a part of this.

If she wants to help, give her projects to do or help with rather than letting her "find" something to help you with (as in, keep her from wanting to help with a project you'd rather not have her input!!).

Actually she's my brother's wife...Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that she's trying to help but she's making me want to pull out my hair.  Considering that my big day is 2 months away and I've never asked her for help, she should get the hint that I'm fine. Besides she's lives an hour away from me and can't really come over to help. They have 3 toddlers to deal with which is why I never asked her for anything. I'm soooo glad that I started my planning almost 2 yrs ago, I've been able to handle everything myself.

Since the theme is fall, I'm having pumpkin spice muffins (leaf-shaped) done as place settings. They're going to be wrapped in colored cellophane and I'm doing the tags myself with the names/table #'s on them....I have two favors (the edible kind and the take home kind) candy apples and a set of leaf-shaped soaps. I figured everyone would appreciate something tasty to eat and something to take home.

Actually she s my photo 66454-1 These are the soaps I'm getting..

Actually she s my photo 66454-2 These are the coasters that she wanted me to get..yuck.

haha, make sure the soap is clearly labeled as SOAP! They look like maple candy a little bit, which is FI's favorite thing in the world, so as soon as I saw them, I just had an image of him taking a big 'ol bite out of the soap.... :-)

It all looks really cute!!

I actually like coasters....just not those!  I've seen much cuter "fall" themed ones.

The soaps look like white choclate to me!  makes me want to take a bite out of it too! ha!

Hm, ok that's 2 for 2...I have to make sure I label them or else I'll be back with a post labeled "how my guests ate the soap favors".

I've had way too much caffeine if I can't stop laughing.

Cute favors!

You and I have similar planning situations - I've been planning for about 10 months now and I have 10 more months to go... so I've already made a lot of decisions and gotten a lot of stuff done.  Everyone keeps offering to help - but I've got most of it handled (TG4PW = Thank God for Project Wedding!).

lol sarah and jackie you make me laugh...haha

so is she just backseat "helping"?  just saying 'oh you should do this' and not really wanting to do the tasks to help?  just putting her 2 cents in? ugh that is just silly.  but if that is the case, at least she won't really do anything about it, she's just wanting to give you her opinion.  if not.... do what betsi and jharkins said. GL

I think she's just offering to help because she overheard my mom and I talking about how I've pretty much checked everything off my list, with no one's help. Then again, she's just a busy body who likes to be in everyone's business. This is the same person who offered to give me her wedding dress even though it was big and fluffy (not good for my 4'10' height)....I could be on here forever just talking about her!

But we've grown to like her after 10 years :-)

idea: Im not really a fan of coasters but I had a similar issue w/ FI's mom- I compromised with her and said that while it didn't really go with the WEDDING theme, it would be a cute way to remember the rehearsal dinner, and so we are using the little candles she wanted there for the bridal party/family to keep (I think secretly she wanted to have one, maybe your FSIL is hoping to keep it as a momento she likes! lol!)
