How do you stay relaxed???

So this morning DH and I went to get our blood work done and then I took his SA downtown - a 45 min drive, 10 min to find parking ... and paperwork said to bring it within the hour of the 'collection' so was panicking.

My stomach was in knots all morning and now I am at work dealing with crap that I don't care about. All I want is a baby!!!

Sorry for the rant and whining post but I just don't know how I am going to stay calm through this process - and to think that this is only the beginning...

Personally, for me it hasn't gotten any easier - in fact it gets harder the more into it you get.  Or maybe that is just me...

I would try to do things in your life to help with destressing like exercise, acupuncture, massages, mani/pedis whatever makes you feel good and can remove yourself from that situation :)

Thanks Cat - I don't see it getting easier. I worry easily so that is not helping matters. I am trying my best to not think about things and just when I think I am doing really good something will trigger and I will start to cry!

Seeing the recent wave BFP's is making me sad that it's not me but more so very hopefully that it CAN happen!

Amy -

I understand exactly what you mean...and it doesn't help that we don't get answers fast enough.  I am living by this saying right now "Anything worth having is worth working for".  Infertility is a very hard road and unforunately there is no way of knowing how long it will take us to get to our desired result, but I know in the end all of this will be worth it.

Feel free to PM if you ever need anyone to talk to :)

Thanks Cat :)

That's a great saying and very fitting in our situation.

I feel exactly the same as Cat and Jess. :(
It is a really hard road and you have to actively find a way to destress and stay hopeful, if you can.
It is hardest for me when I have down time and the chance to think about it in depth. I tend to jump from scenario to scenario until I work myself into a crazy frenzy. After our first unsuccessful IUI we skipped a month and dtd just for fun. No OPK's, no charting, no timing or anything and it reminded me of what it was like in the beginning! :) It kind of was a wake up call to me and how I was getting bogged down in the difficulty of the situation and not really having fun with DH as much as I used to. I don't plan on taking another month off but I am glad I had the chance to truly relax. We have another IUI coming up so I hope I can hold onto that feeling as we get back on the proverbial horse ;)
And, of course, you have us! We are here to help you through the craziness! :)

Hi, Amy,

I'm new to the board, and I just figured I should chime in and say, "I hear you." it's a real challenge, for me at least, not to ruminate in bitterness that I can't just make a baby. It feels so unfair that we are excluded, so to speak, from the norm---the old fashioned, organic, romantic way of making a family. I can't help but think, "why us"? But then I say to myself, no one deserves this, and I have to reassure myself that even though it might not be traditional or easy, I deserve it just as much as anyone else, and I will get it. I suppose if anything is worth the wait, it should be this. I waver from feeling weepy and victimized to feeling proactive, hopeful and confident that we will conquer this. It's just hard...no one prepares you for this. It was presented as being so formulaic---sex=baby. And the worst part is, many people still think that and are ever so shocked when, gulp, not everyone can just get pregnant right away.

Anyway, I hope we can, collectively, as a group represent the population who can better sympathize. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Welcome to the group Kefi! We will all have babies one day, it may just take us a little longer then planned.

To add to the stress - I can't get in for my HSG test until the END of July - which means my 'package' won't go to the RE until it's done... GRRRR, another month of waiting... just to wait more once I'm on the list for an appt!

Kefi - You said it perfectly.  You can feel so hopeful one day, and the next day you might feel like crying all day long.

Amy, what you do you my your 'package' won't go to your RE until it is done?  With the HSG you find out immediately if your tubes are blocked are not during the procedure...Just trying to help you out :)

Cat - I just meant that I won't get my RE appt (or rather get on the waiting list) until my HSG test is complete. So it's just one more month that will go by before I see the RE. I would just like to know when my appt is so I have someone to look forward to. AND so I can see about getting a cancellation appt. But there is only 1 clinic in the entire area, which is crazy!
