I would say 5 1/2 hours.
wow, thats long, I was hoping u would say 2, lol.
Really, I keep thinking it's not long enough. I guess that would be the average if you are having a reception at a banquet hall.
I think the standard/average is acutally 4 to 5 hours.
i agree with DansMrs..4-5 is typical:)
Yeah its usually about 4 to 5 hours long. I wish it was longer!!
Yep usually 4-5 hours. Even when you do bookings they usually block about 4 hours for the reception on average.
I think it depends on how many "partiers" you have on your guest list. Our reception with cocktail hour included lasted 4 hours and then all of the "younger" crowd (ages 21-35ish) got on a trolley and went to uptown Charlotte where they kept on partying until 2 a.m.
I definitely wish our reception had been about 30 mins - 1 hour longer though. It seemed so short!
I was hoping for 2 hours too. I think ours will be rather short lol
4-5 is def typical... ours was long, dinner started at 5:30, dance ended at 12!! :)
ours was 3.since our wedding started at 5..reception at 7..end at 11-12am
2 hours can be a nice reception, especially if it's during the day. I have been to lovely two hour receptions.
If the wedding is at night though, the reception usually lasts longer. We had a reception jam-packed with activity, and I think ours was about 4 hours long (would you count cocktail hour in there? then it was definitely 5).
I was with a friend this weekend who complained of a seven hour reception. That's too much.
Yeah, 4 or 5 hours is pretty average. However, if you want a shorter reception there is no reason you cant!
Our was about 4.5 hours with an after party. LOL
I had a DW, and our reception was just over 2 hours, not including dinner. We did the ceremony, had dinner, and then 2 hours of dancing. Then we all went out.
Mine is going to be 3 hours. I think thats enough for me.
Mine is 6 lol. It's definitely long, but for us it will be about 5ish because we won't be there for cocktail hour. I guess it's really long now that I am seeing others' responses haha. Eek!
