How many people RSVP and no show at your wedding???

I am worried about this due to the per person plate charge and I've heard it's quite common. Just want to get an idea on an average I should expect to no show after RSVP...???

We only had 1 couple and it was because their son had to go to the hospital.  We definitely couldn't get upset over that!

One reception venue suggested we estimate 10% no-shows, not sure how accurate that is though!

We had 3 people no-show.  One was a date (that we didn't even invite in the first place), another was a friend (still don't know why she didn't show), and the last was a family friend's wife (i think they couldn't find a sitter).  But we had another person show that hadn't RSVPd, so it only ended up being 2 plates paid for but uneaten.

we had 90 rsvps, and 4 no shows.  1 guest's wife couldnt make it at the last minute.  another date of a guest suddenly had something come up.  and another couple just didnt come and knew they werent coming, but didnt think to say anything.

well when someone shows up that you didn't count on they are SOL for a placecard. you just make room for them and the caterer always makes a little extra for exactly that reason.  and like you've heard with me and cari-- there are always a couple no-shows so the ones who show up just take their place.

Find out from your venue how much more they prepare for. Most venues it's at least 5%. Then when you give your final count to your venue give them your count minus that percentage. Works every time!

We had 10 ! yes ten and we paid 150 pp. I didnt even want to invite that family. I had put 5 in the RSVP they responded with it crossed off and 10 in its place and they didnt show. Their excuse was they couldnt find the location. Who does not know where Disney is !! The day after the wedding I was so mad.

Ive been worried about no shows for my wedding too :(

My best friend has 10 no shows at her wedding, my FI cousins had 2 whole table no show (it looked odd seeing two empty tables at the reception) and my DOC said he once did a wedding were 35 people no showed :/

MommyLynda, I’ve heard of that strategy too from my cousin who’s an event planner!  The venue always have food in stock so if extra guests show up, they are prepared.  Therefore, I’ve been told to give the venue a 5% less from the final headcount, to hedge against guests not being able to make it at the last minute.  If they come, great.  If not, then you have at least you didn’t have to pay for the no-shows…

I considered doing the 5% less thing but felt paranoid that they would run out because my coordinator at the venue said one person did that to them, took out 10%, then ran out of food...maybe she's just trying to scare me:)
