How to dye silk petals???

Girls,

I have been given 4 ziplock bags (gallon size) full of red silk rose petals.  I hate to waste them, but my wedding colors are wine (burgundy) and ivory.  Red won't work.  Can I dye these?  If so, what color would you try to use to get a burgundy color???

TIA!

She used white petals though... But maybe try a few of the red ones to see if you can get them darker??  Then if it is a success then do the rest!! :)

Red and violet make burgundy per a google search.  Test a few to see if it works.  Let the petals soak in the dye mixture for a couple of hours.  Let them dry on newspapers and decide AFTER they are dry if they make the correct color for you.  GL!

if you go on rite dye website there are color charts for how to make certain colors...I would try it on some petals but stay at the stove when doing it...its better to watch over it and see when you think they have enough dye on it..otherwise if you walk away for a while you wont know how long is the time frame before they get too dark.

They will dry lighter in color than what they are wet, just so you are prepared for that...

dont put on newspaper the ink off the nespaper can stain the petals actually... I'd actually try dark purple to dye them burgundy and you will prob have to let them sit for a few hrs..

Paper towels might work well, all white ones with no design?
