How to incorporate the marines

Hi ladies-

I need ideas!!

My fiance is a Staff Sergent in the Marines but does not want a military wedding!! Our wedding is next October and our colors are eggplant and cream. I want to acknowledge his duty in the marines and what he has done for our country! Any ideas on how to incorporate this is in our wedding without it looking tacky or sound dumb? I was thinking of a nice speech or poem but I am not sure if that is enough!

Thanks ladies!!!

Are you having a religious ceremony? You could incorporate a prayer for the military into the ceremony.

For the favors, you could do a donation to a military organization.

You could pass out yellow ribbons for people to wear or have yellow ribbons pinned on your flowers.

Have a marine themed grooms cake maybe?

I love the grooms cake and prayer idea! We are already doing a donation to a domestic violence shelter in the area as part of the favor (a little piece of chocolate with a tag about the donation).  You are good!!

For our ceremony, my fiance is going to wear his military uniform and change into a suit for the reception.  Would your fiance be open to that idea?

the groom's cake is a great idea m.h.1.2.3!  maybe on the table where you have the grooms cake, one of the military signs that johnniethm found?  http://www.projectwedding.com/post/list/thought-i-would-share-this

We did a donation instead of favors. We gave to operation uplink, which provides phone cards to soldiers overseas. But you're already doing donations sooo... not such a great idea for you!

Since your wedding is in October you could set up a table near the guest book and have people sign christmas cards to send over to the troops as well?

We also had a military cake topper.
