Hysteroscopy?

Hey ladies we finally got to meet with our RE yesterday! YAY!!! I finally feel like there is some hope again which is such an awesome feeling! It was just our first consultation and he went over any and everything that could cause fertility issues... They took over 12 tubes of blood for tons of testing from me and one from DH (karyotype) and he also wants to set me up for a Hysteroscopy.... This is where I need your help... Has anyone had this done before and if so how was it? Painful? I am a little freaked out since he said there would be no sedation and to just take midol an hour before!?!?! All that I have read online you are given something to relax or numb that area... Any advice or information you might have would be appreciated! I have to wait to call them to schedule it because he like to do it on a certain CD....

TIA!

Mine was not too bad. its so quick. there was a sharp stab of pain when they put in the dye but it subided quickly and they whole process is so fast its really the anticipation that is worse. At least for me. Glad you like your RE. Good Luck!

Hi! Yes, I had one done a few months back. I had it done in the RE's office and just popped a few tylenol ahead of time. I had like a minute or two of cramping and pressure and that was it. It was very fast when he did it. Did you have a HSG? (where they insert the dye to check your tubes). I had that done too and didn't have any pain during that either but I know that several of the girls on here did so I'm wondering if there's a correlation of when you will /will not have pain from these procedures.

And YAY for getting a plan!!

Thanks ladies for making me feel better about it :)

@mikesgirl~ I haven't had and HSG done I guess maybe because I don't have problems getting pregnant I just keep miscarrying them so maybe that's why they haven't done that one yet?!?!

That makes sense. They probably just want to confirm that your uterus looks OK - shape, fibroids, polyps, etc. and if that's causing any of the m/c's. In my RE's office they usually do it either right at the end of your period or just after. they want to make sure it is before you ovulate. It should hopefully be quick and relatively painfree! Keep us posted!

Is the RE just waiting to get all of the tests back before deciding on a course of action or do you know what the next steps are already?

Also, is your doctor checking for blood clotting issues? I am certainly no doctor but after my last m/c my doctor did a whole lot of bloodwork and discovered that I have a clotting disorder. After meeting w/a hemotologist and joining some forums, it seems that these issues can cause recurrent m/c's if left untreated...I know that some RE's don't regularly test for these so i figured i'd mention it..

Yeah that's exactly what he said to make sure its triangle shaped inside! I have to call on CD 1 and they will schedule me for a certain CD I'm guessing right after AF (now I'm just hoping she shows up soon! I am so ready for some answers!)

As for the blood clotting I'm almost 100% positive I was tested for that... They took over 12 tubes of blood for all sorts of test.... They said they would be calling me when they start coming in to give me results instead of waiting for all of them because the karyotype takes 3-4 weeks :( Ugh I am to impatient to wait lol...

As for right now the only action we know for sure they are going to take is once we start TTC I will have to take prometrium everycycle around CD 17 until AF comes or if I become pregnant until 10 weeks... This is because with the last MC at 6w my progesterone was only at 6.1 so I guess he is going to put me on it because of that?!?! The rest is just a waiting game until the test start coming back and we make sure my uterus is okay inside!

Does all this sound about right?

That sounds right to me! I'm glad that they are checking for the blood clotting issue. On my initial RE appt, they took 19 vials of blood! However, they don't check for the blood issues unless you m/c so, unfortunately, we didn't know (after the m/c, we got 17 more taken). Makes me bummed but I'm just glad that I know now.

The waiting is the worst part!!!!
