I dont have any family around, I need some serious dress advice.

Hi everyone, I really need some outside opinion. I going to try and make this as short as possible.
In July I tried on a dress I knew was THE ONE! My mom didn't like it. I went back home ( I live in a different state) and for some stupid reason bought a dress I though she might like. Now this is a nice dress, its very pretty, traditional, gorgeous fabric, and all my family back home love it. When I bought it I thought I was doing something good it was in my price range, and it seemed like a practical choice.

Now I feel really sad about dress #1 when I had that dress on I felt like I was in my own skin and it made me feel amazing. it is actually the same price as dress #2 (the dress I bought)

My question is: if you were in my situation what would you do? I am considering try to sell dress #2 do you have any ideas on how to do that to make the most money? Or should I just suck it up and wear the dress I already purchased?

Hey there! I would definitely go for the one that YOU love! I'm not sure of the best way to try and sell the dress. Maybe preownedweddingdresses.com or on the classified here. Have you called the bridal shop to see if you can do some sort of trade-in? Good luck!!

I agree to go with the one you love - as long as it will fit into your budget.  However, I want to give you a dose of reality.  Selling your dress is NOT the easiest thing to do.  I made a panic purchase of a dress over a year ago.  I bought the "right" dress and received it just before Christmas last year.  I've been trying to sell my other dress since then and it's still in my closet.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide.

I agree with the others, buy the gown that you want.  You don't want to have any regrets.  Though, if it is in your budget, you could always wear both gowns.  That way everyone would be happy.  If not, then lots of luck selling your gown.

Your heart knows!  If you could swing it financially, use "mom's" dress for the ceremony and your dream dress for the reception.  Brides do that all the time.  Can your bridal party, instead of buying shower/wedding gifts chip in for it and you pay the difference? You could sell the "mom" one after and recoup some cash.

It's most important that you feel like a million bucks and everyone will love the dress change at the reception.

Thank you guys so much! I don't know why I made such a stupid decision. I'm feel better after I got this off my chest and had someone to listen. I've been thinking about it all day and I'm still going to try and sell my dress but the shower idea is really good and will talk to my girls about it next time I see them!

Thank you :)

Have you made any alterations to the dress yet? If not, see if your bridal shop will exchange the dress for you... Its a long shot, but maybe if you turn on the water works and lay it on thick...So sorry this happened to you, it's so easy to be swayed when emotions run high like this. GOOD LUCK!!!

I think you should definitely try to exchange or sell the dress and go with the one you love--you're the one wearing it, not your mom.

It's YOUR day, you need to do what makes YOU happy! Bottom line. Now, if the dress you love was unreasonably out of your budget, that might be a different story. But you are in no way being unreasonable in this situation!

All the other ladies gave you great advice. Get the dress you love. You don't want to look back and hate your pictures. During my wedding journey, I thought the dress didn't matter but it really does! It is what makes you feel like a bride! Post a picture of your dress in this post. How much are you selling it for? Maybe another prospective bride may buy it!
