I dropped my lens!

I'm so mad at myself.  I was at a photography workshop and didn't close my camera bag right and my 50mm 1.8 fell out onto the concrete floor!  I haven't had time to check it out but I am assuming I've damaged it.  Does anyone know about Canon's warranty?  I've had the lens about 5 months.  I know this may not be covered.  I may just have to buy another lens.... ugh!

Ouch!  How could you have time to write this post and no time to check on your baby?  Did it look ok on a first glance that's why you haven't "checked" yet?

Hope your lens is ok. :)

Canon warranty won't cover you dropping the lens:(

I dropped mine once too and I actually injured it. The focus lens part broke and I thought well I'll try and glue it (LOL, it's already broken anyways right?) Well believe it or not it fixed it and it works like it never happened.

I guess the upside is at least it's a less expensive lens if you do need to replace it:)

I was in the middle of a workshop when I dropped it, got stuck in an extra hour of traffic going home because of a jack-knived semi truck and was too tired when I finally got home last night.  I'm at work now so I couldn't check it out but will tonight.  I'm sure I've done damage.  At least it's not an expensive lens.

One of my second shooters dropped this lens when we were shooting together once - shattered everywhere on the concrete and I freaked out (not knowing what lens he had dropped).  It was a goner but it wasn't my lens at least!

^^Ouch! No offense to Canon it's not a well built lens either. I don't think it's meant to take a fall, not that any lens is but this one is particular. It feels like cheap plastic compared to other lens. But for $100 what can you expect right?

I hope you get a chance to test it out soon:)

I took some pictures yesterday with my lens.  I couldn't tell anything too noticeable but I am going to try again later tonight.  What should I look for in picture quality?
