i so don't want to be THAT military wife

You guys know who I'm talking about.  She's the one at parties/functions whose eyes are always peeled for the important people.  She thinks that her networking (sucking up skills) are going to get her husband advanced to general.  lol.  I am SO not that person and i don't think I could be if I tried!  Have you met these girls?

ugh, yes.

I also don't ever want to be the wife who defines herself by her husband's career- she talks about nothing but the Army and thinks that she knows everything that there is to know about everyone else's husband's career.

Last summer I met a girl who told me that I was wrong about where my FI had been deployed to last time. I kept telling her "I am pretty sure FI and yrouDH were not deployed together. FI was with the xxx unit and he was in...." She kept saying "No he wasn't" Really???? She didn't even know him then! Hahaha. Crazy!

I totally agree. I am super proud of FI's career- and when he talks about work (which is extremely rare) I am glad to hear it. But I have my own life and [will have] my own career, kwim? I think part of the problem is that a lot of the crazy ladies I met don't work and don't have kids- and stayed alone the whole year plus that their DH was deployed- so it seems like they had nothing to do but obsess over him. (I am not trying to bash people who are unemployed or stay at home moms- I am totally unemployed right now- but I keep my own identity even without work or kids)

I know what you ladies mean I love my FI and I'm totally supportive of his goals but I fully plan on having my own career even if it takes me a little longer to achieve those goals due to moving around I plan on teaching at some point in the future. I work 2 days a week and we don't have kids but I have managed to keep y identity outside of him. I haven't met the wife that obsesses just yet but I'm sure I will at some point however I have met the lazy wife who doesn't do anything with herself because her hubby makes good money.

haha this is what I always think! You know on Army wives- "Roxy" and how she just tells it as it is! That is so me- and like in the first season when she gets up and salutes the col. - haha I died laughing- bc I could so see me doing something like that! lol.I just have too much of an opinion and too much independence to ever act that way. :)

even more i wouldnt ever wanna be THAT military wife thats spending away all his money while hes gone, cheating and having parties all week long... ugh

my husbands deployed and i everytime hes in port he has a new friend or friends on the boat who just found out there wife is cheating. its so discouraging to the both of us. we would never be likethat to each other but it sucks hearing about it ALL the TIME with everyone you know. can ANYONE hold i together for a simple deployment? really? you knew what you were getting yourselves into before you married them. deployments arent easy but its such a SMALL deal compared to a life long marriage. why do we always have the hear about people not being able to make it? it sucks.

my husband and i can make it, and we are. we are strong and we will not be a statistic
