I survived being a coordinator!

So today a previous boss of mine got married. He had asked me to be his coordinator a while ago and I was hesitant. But after being an MOH last weekend, I felt very prepared.

And wouldn't you know it, today's wedding went so well! Sure, there were snafus, but it just went rolling right along and everyone had a great time. And everyone thought I was a professional planner! Nope, but after almost a year long engagement, I am sorta feeling like a professional bride to be!

Now for some much needed sleep... zzzzzz

The singer was supposed to sing before the vows, but she was late late late! So she got their just after the vows, handed me the CD and just walked up on stage! But it went really well and people didn't seem to think it was weird.

Then the mother of the bride kept handing out bouts to random gentlemen of the family. There were extras, so we had enough for the groomsmen, but I had to make a makeshift one out of the bouquets for the groom since his was given away.

Also, the bride and groom were supposed to take pictures afterwards and everyone was supposed to go to the back of the church for the reception. But the guests were NOT going back there. I was trying to be polite but they all felt like they could walk in front of the photograhper's posed shots to talk with the new couple!

There were also more people than chairs for the lunch (the space was just really limited since they had a last minute change for their outdoor ceremony because of bad weather), so the bride's parents were one of the last people to get food and they had to wait for a chair and silverware. But they didn't seem to mind.

Congratulations! It's really interesting to read about the snafus - I bet the third one happens all the time. Another good reason to do the couple's formal portraits before the ceremony!

Yes, it is interesting to read about the snafus but what's most important is for us to read that there were snafus and the world didn't end.... People dealt with it, no one freaked out, guests still celebrated and 2 people who were in love still ended up married. It's a good lesson for all of us : )

Congrats Moe! Isn't it exhilirating? And TheDame is right...SOMETHING will go wrong, so it's best to accept that from the get-go and roll with it. But thank goodness they had you, Moe, seeing to the best solutions for the little issues that arose.

Did you just do this "for fun" or are you getting into the business?

How awesome! Great job, Moe!

Congrats on your success and like Lori asked, is this a business now for you? If so, how exciting!

I'm still at my 9 to 5, so no, it's not a job. But party planning is something I've always enjoyed doing and I would eventually like to use those skills in something. And I definitely do need a new job! :)

But yes, Lori, it was definitely exhilirating!
