I think the seamstress ruined the hem!

I went in for my final fitting yesterday and I was so happy that the zipper went up! yay....barely.

But the dress is way too short!  When she originally pinned it, i warned her that i like it long. But she argued and said that i'd trip over the dress.  fine.  i agreed because she knew more than me.

so yesterday, it's like 4" off the floor! they're like floods!  and she cut the material so she can't let it out!  my dress has pick ups so she blamed the design of the gown saying that it "picked up too much material" and that she'd let some of it down so that the hem would go down and even out.

i'm so worried.  i called her afterward to make sure what she wants to do won't ruin the style of the dress or leave holes in my dress.  ugh!  i have no idea who she is.  i was referred to her from a seamstress in town that didn't alter wedding gowns.  she used to work at david's bridal as their seam stress but now she's at men's wearhouse and she does gowns on the side out of her home.

i couldn't even sleep last night.  the worst case is, tht i'lll have to wear a shorter heel so it wont look so high.

any advice?  how many inches was your gown off the floor?

First, you will look beautiful no matter what!  Your the only one that will really notice such a difference... Worst case scenario you will need newshoes, you wont be a whole 1-2 inches as tall- but that should be worth it, right?  Lastly could you alter the fabric at the bottom of the dress to something different?  I always loved those dresses that would change material at the bottom- would yours look good like that???

Don't worry you'll think of plan B! Do you have a picture? We can tell you the truth if its really too short!  I know exactly where your coming from this was one of my concerns as well!

Thanks HMM!  I'm picking up the final gown on Saturday and I'm scared!  I hope she was able to fix it!

Geoffygirl....Another thing to keep in mind - was the gown fluffed when you tried it on?  If so you might be okay - the gown will fall a little flat the day of and will be closer to the ground.  Good luck - I hope everything comes out okay!

Geoffygirl when I read your post I thought "EEeekk not the Monique Lhuillier Camelot!!" I really hope she can fix the dress for you so don't stress too much =) I think my dress was about 1" off the ground, my seamstress called it "barely kissing the ground"

Thanks ladies!  You're the best at making a stressed out bride feel better.  :)

I can't wait to pick it up already!  I spoke to her and she "reassured" me that she was able to let out one of the pick ups and it looks "great."  We'll see.

As plan B, I do have those wonderful Nine West JoJus green shoes that are shorter at 3.25" that I can wear that will hopefully alleviate the height difference.

I also noticed that the hem curls a bit.  I'm wondering if it's because of her job or because it needs to be steamed.
