You always come up with great topics. If I had $1,000 to spend I'd probably have a beach wedding with just our close friends and family and a lunch reception. I don't think the budget necessairly makes the wedding beautiful, it's the couple and the joining of their union that's special.

i would go to city hall, and then just take a fab trip! which is exactly what i wanted to do, but FI was very particular about having a traditional wedding in a church. we have an incredibly small budget (3,000), but i seriously dont know how id do everything with only $1000.

I'd pay for our wedding! We're having a beach wedding and we're only spending $500 :)

Well,  I would do just as I did, get married in a park-location FREE!  Chairs would pull double duty at both ceremony site and reception.  Have family or friend(s) with truck load them up and haul between sites.  Our reception site actually had two sets of chairs so it worked out that we didn't need to set the chairs around the tables at the reception.

Scour second hand stores or goodwill for a wedding dress-cost under $100. (I actually purchased one for Halloween so I know it can be done.  I paid $49 for it)

Hubby and I would actually do a Civil War era wedding.  We already have the clothes, so FREE!  Bridesmaids and groomsmen already have clothes.  FREE!

I would pick flowers from my grandmother's yard for bouquets and purchase some pretty ribbon to tie them up- ribbon-$5 a spool.

Rent the same hall I did for my reception-$250.

Ask my family to cater, just as I did-FREE!

Go to the dollar store and purchase plates, napkins, cups, etc.  $50

Ask my hubby to bake the cake, just as he did for our wedding-FREE

Grab a boom box, my dad's amp system and have a friend DJ-FREE

Make cookies and wrap them up as favors-$75 for cookies, bags and ribbons.

Purchase our rings at a local box store, just as we did.  $200 for my bridal set and for his ring.

Use collection of wedding cake toppers as centerpieces.  Intermix picked flowers from Grandma's yard or wildflowers (weeds ie Queen Anne's Lace, Chickory, etc not the ones that won't grow back when picked).  Use already owned vases, mason jars or water containers as vases. -Free

Extra decorations for reception (DIY of course)- $95

Marriage liscense and fee for officiant-$125

Total Cost $900, $800 if we do the theme wedding.

And well we would have left over cash for whatever.  So folks, it can be done, done well and still be an awesome day.

I agree with kplusd with the Town Hall part. Then maybe a nice dinner for just close friends and family.

I would get married in a family members back yard & throw a great party for the reception, I think that would be so much fun. My brother got married at a courthouse in Toledo & had a backyard bbq to celebrate, it was so much fun.

 8 table runners $1.99 apiece,

 8 vases $1 apiece,

 8 plates $1 apiece,

8 bunches of silk roses $1 apiece,

 8 paper butterflies $2 total,

5 spools of brown ribbon $1 apiece,

red and cream cardstock $3.50 apiece,

 stickers for fans $3,

glue gun and sticks $5 total,

food and drinks for 50 people $100,

 2 disposeable cameras $10.00,

tissue paper for pompoms 5 for $1 apiece,

 brown yarn $3, my sash(actually a shawl) $3.99,

 my necklace $10,

earrings $1,

 my slippers $4,

flip flops for our favors $1 apiece= $40

 cups and plates $12 total,

utensils $2 total,

 his pants $50,

 his tie/shirt $20,

 his shoes $50,

my tiara $15,

my son's shirts $5 apiece,

Some AMAZING budget ideas.

CandyAnn and Princessredpez, it’s fantastic that you were able to have your dream day and keep within the budget you had wanted, not to mention have so many elements that looked like it cost WAY more. The power of friends, family and DIY lol.

Mine was not under $1000 (Dh WISHES lol)  but we saved a FORTUNE  because of the help we got from the people in our lives i.e. my BFF the baker, my ex babysitter the  florists, my friend the  DJ, my kids daycare providers sister the event decorator, my dads friend the hotel manager lol

If I had $1000 I would probably do a small backyard wedding. When my friend’s father was sick we pulled together a quick wedding for her so he could walk her down the aisle before he passed away. A few close friends and family and it was gorgeous.

I would just have a small casual wedding in a backyard or at a park. So basically the same wedding as I am planning on having! LOL Except my budget is $2,000.  :)

I would still go to Lake Tahoe to get married, only use one of the wedding chapels. ($250-350 and the bouquet is usually included) Dinner would be at a randomly chosen restaurant.
