Introduce your selves!

I am Kelley and I am 20 years old, my fiance is David and he is also 20. We originally was planning our wedding with a 2k budget, but as if that wasn't hard enough had to cut our budget to 1k. Total I believe we will have spent just over 1k, like $1200.00 I believe. I have only been to 1 wedding and 2 receptions my self and had no ideal where to start panning. It took about 6 months (& a thousand websites) until after we were engaged for me to realize what to do and where to start, lol!

♥We'll anyways share whatever you like!♥

Hi. Thanks for making this group. There is a 5K budget brides group too, but this is closer to our budget. Here are some $$ saving ideas:

1. My FH and I are having our reception at a local park pavillion and it was not that expensive. So if you have a park in your area then talk to the office that runs the park, you may be able to get a pavillion for your reception at a low low price. :)

2. DOLLAR TREE IT UP! LOL!!!!

3. REPEAT #2 (lol)

4. lots and lots of DIY!!!!

5. If you want to save $$ on flowers maybe have your BM's hold single long stemed flowers, that way you won't have to pay a lot of $$ for a full boquet, and it still looks really nice. :)

Thats all for now. :)

Excactly why I made the group, 5k is low budget for the average wedding but for my family my 1.2k wedding is the most expensive ever!

Yay for park weddings! I did excactly as you just suggested about a month ago. I have to call again and get all the prices. The woman I spoke to said their lowest price was $100 for a small picnic shelter and I need a slightly larger one. And yeah dollar tree is a life saver! I just went with fake flowers though I found plenty of cheap flower bouquets at Walmart, they just weren't the very expensive Calla Lillies I wanted. So I bought fake Calla Lillies and since my dad's girlfriend offered to buy them, I got pre made bridesmaids bouquets from a craft store.

Hi,

My name is Lora and my fella's name is Richard.  We are both 40 years and have a total of five children, 22, 16, 12, 10 and 8 and a 3 year old grandson.  We met last year through an online dating service (a free one to boot) and will be getting married in Oct.  We each have been married before, but still have no idea how to plan a wedding as other people had taken over both previous weddings.  We are both back in college (though I am taking some time off) so coming up with the funds to pay for a wedding has been difficult.  Any suggestions anyone might have would be greatly appreciated. We have decided to combine my love of purple with cherry blossoms (have loved those since I first say The Last Samurai, they were all over the place in that movie) which might be a new mixture as I haven't seen them combined anywhere so far.  I have however found a site where I can put them together on napkins and matchbooks.  I will have to design my own invitations so I can put them together, but have no idea how to do it.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lora

@DIY girl. YAY for park weddings! :) :)

@Lora, nice to have you with us. :)

I think if you border your invites with purple ribbon that would be pretty. I LOVE CHERRY BLOSSOMS! Aren't they gorgeous?

Hi there! Antoner bride looking to spend between 1-2k for my vow renewal ceremiony and reception. DH wants to do it at the house, which would save us a phenomenal amount of money. Look forward to getting other tips from this group.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR THIS GROUP!!!!!

I was beginging to feel like a loaner, who didn't want to spend a down payment for a house on a wedding!!!  I will second everyone's suggestions so far and will also suggest Oriental Trading Company and Shopgoodwill.com for some good deals on everything from ceremony accessories to favors, veils and well even dresses!

I am a DIY bride, having her ceremony in the local park's lovely gazebo, and in my childhood church's reception hall.  CHEAP and just as pretty as those pricey places. My family is catering the dinner, so viola no cost there, and well I have been scoring major clearance sales on plates, cups, napkins, silverware and decor for the reception.  I am doing my own flowers, $99 sale at David's Bridal for the dress and a $21 veil from ebay.  My wedding and reception will  be just as lovely as those pricey over the top ones and at the end of the day, all that matters is I am marrying the man of my dreams who just happens to be baking our wedding cake!
