Introducing Jada Lynn
I can't believe my baby girl is here! Her due date was March 20th but she decided she was done baking and made her appearance on March 4th!
I had my 37w appointment on Friday 3/1 and the midwife felt confidant that I had at least another week left. The afternoon of Saturday 3/2 I started feeling some cramping/contractions but figured they were just braxton hicks. They continued through the evening and by 11pm they were 5 minutes a part and pretty uncomfortable. I called the midwife and she told me to go to the hospital to get checked. We got there a little before midnight and I was dilated to 1cm. They had me walk around for an hour to see if I would progress but I didn't. The pain was getting worse and I received a shot of morphine. The nurse said I'd most likely be back the next day for delivery but she had seen people stay at 1cm with contractions for weeks.
I went home that night and slept better then I had in months. I was also able to take a few naps Sunday. By midday Sunday I was starting to feel the contractions again but this time the pain was substantially worse. I didn't want to rush back to the hospital to be sent home again. I told myself if I was still having these pains by 8am we'd go in however by 2am I was in so much pain and the contractions were 2-6 minutes a part. I couldn't go through a contraction without squeezing DH's hand. When we arrived at the hospital I was immediately checked and was dilated to 6 1/2 cm and was told I'd be having my baby girl that day! Up until that point I wasn't thinking about giving birth, I was thinking of getting the pain to stop.
When I initailly found out I was pregnant I wanted to try to do a natural delivery but once I was in the middle of it all I knew I wouldn't be able to handle the pain and I needed the epidural - BEST decision! I felt like the epi allowed me to enjoy my delivery. By 7am I was dialated to 10 and the midwife had me start pushing. she said she's had patients with epidurals delivery quickly and others push for 3+ hours so it was still unknow how much longer I had to go however by 8am the baby had come down enough for a few final pushes. My baby girl entered the world at 8:11 am on March 4th weighing 7lbs 10oz and was 19.5 inches long.
When they placed her on my chest I instantly started crying! I couldn't believe she was actually here! Dh and I decided we would pick her name once she arrived and when we saw her we knew instantly her name should be Jada Lynn- we are so in love!
