invitations

Looking for guidance/advice... where do you think the best place to order invitations from would be?  Or where did you order yours from?  Also, how did you decide how you wanted the invitations worded?

I've googled the wording part but there are still so many choices... I can't make a decision to save my life!

I think the best way to know what you are getting is to go to a invitation type business and look at what the fonts are and the wording.

I created my own wording. I had ideas from here and there, but then I just wrote what I wanted.

If your parents are paying then you would want to say that Mr. and Mrs. Blank invite you to join them in celebrating the joining of Name and Name

If both sets of parents are paying then you want to list both parents names.

We paid for our wedding and our vow re-newal so we just used Our names

The first time it read Ms. Full Legal Name and Mr. Full Legal Name Invite you to join them in celebration as the two become one in Holy Matrimony.

This time it reads:

20 Years Ago we met and fell in love

10 Years Ago we bought our house

Last Year we opened our first office

NOW
Mr. and Mrs. Mark . . .

Respectfully request the honour of your presence

as we renew our wedding vows

I guess it's more a personal decision than anything.  We actually had ours made my someone we know in London.  But I used weddingpaperdivas for our STD's and liked some of their invites.  Also, I used Sarah Goff (goingtobegoff) to design our monogram - she's excellent and also does invitation suites.  Halsey (ridegrl) is also super talented :-)

With regards to the wording, again it's personal taste of what you like.   We sat with my parents and came up wqith the wording together.

I agree with adamsapple - it is a more personal decision than anything. However, with that being said, there are TONS (literally thousands) of places to get invitations done.  This is how DH and I handled our invites.

We sat down and figured out what our budget was.  With the fact that both of us were working 2 jobs and really could not take on another DIY project ourselves, although I would have loved to. If you a more "standard" style invitation, then I would check out Magnet Street Weddings, Wedding Paper Divas as adamsapple mentioned, Invitations by Dawn, The American Wedding, and so on.

If you are leaning towards the more creative avenue, I would most definitely check out Signatures by Sarah or The Chic Bride - these are just two off the top of my head that have created many invitation suites for our PW brides.

Here is a link to wedding invitation etiquette; again, this also depends upon who is paying for the wedding, location, type of wedding (formal, informal), etc.

I used Halsey for our invitations and monogram. I purchased our std's from wedding paper divas.

Etsy has so many options! The only problem I ran into with Etsy is several shops had minimum order sizes.

With wording ditto the other ladies it's all about personal preference. I found 3 that I liked and fi and I narrowed it down from there.

Invites can seem so exhausting when you first start planning--I think I went crazy looking at them, and ended up changing my mind a million times! haha

Do you know how many you need/a general idea of what you are looking for? Etsy has really cute designs, like ellewinfrey mentioned!

If you are comfortable doing some DIY work, you could always order the design work from etsy and then print them yourself, or take them to a printer, or upload the design through a place like VistaPrint. For ours, I ordered our main invite from Vista, then I made our inserts myself at home.

Hello dearest!

As the above ladies stated, it is definitely a personal decision. Do you have a theme? How much do you want to spend on invitations? For some brides, this is very importatnt because it sets the tone for their wedding. For others, this may be a minor detail. Depending on what you want, invitations can be expensive.

Originally I was going to do some simple, ecru send and seal invitations. They are very cost effective and my original thought was I wasn't going to spend a lot of invitations people would toss in the trash afterwards. When I got a sample of one in the mail, they didn't look like a wedding in my mind at all even with me dressing them up, so I went on zazzle.com that I had been toying with for months and finally chose my invitations. I spent more than I intended to spend on invitations, but they gave me such joy and delight creating. I used postcards for my rsvp's. As for wording, I always knew how I wanted them worded and I started my invitation off with my favorite quote by Audrey Hepburn

"Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairytale!"

On the front of my invites, they read, Love's Fairytale, Tressy & Cale 6/30/12

Hi and welcome to PW!!

I'm going to also ditto the other ladies! It is all about preference and how important you want your invites to be.

I ordered my invites from zazzle.com when they had a 50% off sale. Although, I did order prettier envelopes from cardsandpockets.com (purple instead of the plain white that zazzle comes with). Somebody up there said, narrow it down to a few choices and then sit down with your fiance and family and decide! Good luck!

Our said,

"Together with their families"

Elise * & Trent * invite you to their wedding

blah blah date, time, place

reception to follow.

Pretty boring! lol, but this is just me, I didn't want to put too much effort into something that people just throw right away for the most part. That is entirely my opinion though.
