Invitations dilemma

Howdy ladies!

so here's the scoop....a friend of mine does invitations for different events and said she would do mine. We didn't agree on a price but I will pay her for her services. Anyway, the initial contact about what we may want was made Decemeber and now I still dont have the invites b/c they eventually decided outsourced the printing job b/c their printer was not producing good quality(2 samples were not up to par).

At this point, I'm no longer excited about the invites and the process up until now wasn't that smooth, so i'd like to order invites online.

My plan is to reach out and let them know I'll pay them for their services thus far, but I no longer want them to complete the job.

the site i found invites are on wedding paper divas ang got samples for the feel of the diff options etc.

2 of them i really love but unsure if one of them actually says wedding.

Our colors are navy blue & white w/ a splash of yellow. wedding is sept 2014

for option #1 - I would have them put "our wedding" in yellow. The only thing I dont like is that it doesn't have the day and I'm not where that would be incorporated.

option #2- includes a picture. we just got our engagement photos back and I started to play around with it, but i'm not sure if having a picture in a wedding invitation says wedding.

we dont have a theme but the feel we'd like to accomplish is romantic, elegant, and modern. the invitation suppose to set the tone and I'm a bit hesitant that the pic invite doesn't say dress your heart out.

What do you think? crunch time is approaching and I'd like to start sending out in june/july

What a horrible situation!! I'm so happy that you have managed to find alternatives.

They're both lovely, but I really like option 1. Like you I'm not sure about the photo aspect of option 2

thanks canooknic! I dont wanna ask too many ppl b/c i want the invite to be a surprise so thanks for the response.

do you think it will look bad that it doesn't have the day of the wedding? or rather if you were a guest and received said invite, would you say "where's the day. oh, they probably forgot it"?

I've never seen the big deal with that to be honest! I'm more than capable of looking at my calendar to see what day of the week it is - I would need to look at it to see if I already had so etching planned anyway so what difference does it make??

Just another outdated etiquette thing in my opinion!!

indeed! that's what I thought but FI brought it up.

and frankly the invite would probably look crowded with anything else.

I love the first one. I like the simplicity of the first one, but its still unique and elegant.  I'm not a fan of photos on an invite but thats just me.
