Invitations don't match color scheme

Hi all! My invitations don't match the overall color scheme (lavender/pale cream) I'm going to be using. We found them at Michael's (budget conscious) and they're teal and tan/brown. We loved them because of the two little love birds on them. But do you think this is a major issue? Does everything have to match and be part of the theme?

I don't think everything has to match and especially the invitations! There’s never been a wedding I've been to that I walked in and thought "ow my…this decor doesn’t match the invitation I got one month ago". Never! And I’ve been to a lot of weddings!

Thanks, leni8! That's what I was hoping to hear and it's very true. But you know how we worry about the details. lol

I def. agree with leni.  I don't think you should worry about the invitations.

I could lie and say it wouldn't bug the crap outta me but i'd be lying...but I have OCD and have to have everything a certain way so this should not bother you at all. I am TRYING to learn that I can relax on trying to achieve perfection and just get things that I love. I say get then if you love them! Really, the invites will be sent out long before the wedding anyway so most people probably wont even think about it. :) GOOD LUCK!!!

Trust me, no one will remember. You like it, you get it. Mine didnt match either, but I aimed for a contrast.

Agreed - anyone who pays that close attention to worry that your invites don't match the day of...sheesh! Do whatever you like, there are no rules! If it bothers you that much, maybe you could tie a matching ribbon around them or add a seal or sticker of some kind in your colors...but I honestly wouldn't worry!

And I should add that I keep all the wedding invites I get on the fridge as a reminder, and never once have I gone to a wedding expecting to see whatever colors were on the invite!

if anything it will be a pleasant surprise to the guests that you have different colors because they were assuming one thing but the actual colors were another!

Your invites set the tone for your wedding just an FYI

Thanks to everyone for their help! Since the invitations are already bought (and mailed, whew!) then I'm going to relax on that issue. I still have the option of incorporating some of the main color of the invitation into my flower colors as an accent, perhaps. We will see what the florist thinks of that idea. :-)

The only thing that's a major issue is that in your "wedding scrapbook" you're going to remember that your invitations didn't match your theme!! But don't worry at all about other people's opinions!

I think the most important thing is that you like them :)

Everything doesn't have to matchy, matchy!

IMO, if you like them - then that is what matters.  However, if you are second guessing yourself, you could possibly add a little bit of teal (very minimal) to your CPs or even table numbers, bar signs (if you are doing them), etc so you could tie in the color of your invites into your them.

Ours didn't match! They were a close, similar shade, but did not match
