"IRL" versus online

so we've had this discussion before, but i'm too lazy (big surprise) to look in the archives for the thread...

how do you feel about inviting people you've befriended online to your wedding??  i'm setting aside one table (maybe 2) of gals i've befriended from where i post my life journal... ik've been invited to some as well in the past, even tho we've never met "IRL".. i'm finally meeting one of them when she and her hubbs comes out to cali when her buckeyes play our trojans!

since it's my life journal, not just a benign random board, they know lots of deets about ex boyfriends, were "with me" when my mom passed away, etc... so they know alot about me and my life and vice versa...

how would you feel if you rec'd an invite from someone you've never met "IRL" even tho you all know so much about each other and talk on the phone, etc???

Wow, I think I would be flattered!! That's really sweet of you actually. I think people you meet online probably know more about you than friends do. Because you don't personally know them, you are more comfortable sharing your life stories and problems with. So why wouldn't you want to share that wonderful day with them too?

Speaking of damask, I was at the Bev Center last night and the entire elevator wall was covered with it!! I swear I was going to take a pic of it and post it on here for you girls to see. I'm going back tomorrow so I'm gonna snap a pic of it!

i would be happy to be invited to someone's wedding i met online.

on a damask side note...i went to the encino michaels and it was slim pickins.  i bought 6 sets of the notecards but i'm going to return them.

i almost got some of the tissues but i'm worried about damask overload.  they're already getting damask frames and clutch purses.

It's your wedding, I say if you want them there and you have the room, then go for it. I'm sure they know you better than the majority of the IRL peope who will be there do anyhow.

I think it would be great. I know there are a few people on here that I talk with a lot that I would love to have at my wedding if it were possible.

I would personally be flattered is someone asked me to their wedding. :0)

I think it's great - esp. if all of you have gotten so close throughout the planning process.  DH and I invited Kittnmouse and her DH (FI then) at our wedding...and my younger sis, DH and I were  attendess at their wedding.  Now, we all have dinner at each other place or have happy hour here and there.

I've actually made several truly good friends from forums (not WEDDING forums, per se, but riding/sportbike forums).  If the bond you share with a person goes beyond what's posted online, you've communicated off site, you get along/have things in common, then why not?  The way you meet people (i.e. online versus IRL) doesn't mean the friendship is any less true.

if they've helped you out through thick and thin and are an important part of your life, i think its only fitting to have them be there on your big day :)
