Is $150 alot for rental of tuxes?

This was the price we got for the guys tuxes. One of our groomsmen made a comment like, "Yikes!" when I told him how much the rental was. The $150 is for everything. I don't think it's very much at all. Opinions? Thanks!

We selected tuxes at Friar Tux and they were $140 for the whole package. They were also running a deal where you book 4 or more and everyone gets 40% off their rental (then they add tax) and the groom is free. I think it ended up being $119 each.

Yep, that sounds about right.  They trick you with the "basic" price.  The shoes, tie, vest, etc tend to be extras.

Ours are around $180 with tax.

I belive the price varies by where you live obviously. I live in a pret ty nice sized city in the Mid-west and work at a bridal and formal wear store. Our basic tux goes for 79.99 plus a 5.00 damage waiver and I believe the highest priced one maybe around 139. Remind you that this includes any style vest and tie and the basic square toe dress shoe. If you have a place that carries Jim's Tuxedos I would check with them, because that is the company we use.

That sounds about average. MW Tux runs $110 to $180 for tux (jacket and pants), shirt, vest, tie, and cufflinks, depending on the brand name.

Hey jackieG-

My b-day is the 19th! How funny! Happy (almost) birthday!

Thanks for the responses. The GM who was questioning it has been married forever and he's not a dress-up kind of guy so maybe that's why he had the response he did. we are only having 2 GMs so we don't get that multiple GM discount.

I am pretty sure you can buy a tux (and accessories) at JCPenney's for less than $150.

Mine are about 100. The small local family owned stores were way cheaper than MWarehouse or some other places similar.

Ours are $100 (at Friar Tux) and I'm in so cal.. but FI chose the "non-designer" ones though.  He liked them better.  I think the designer ones (Calvin Klein, etc) run around $140 or so.  The package includes everything, even cufflinks and socks (haha)
