Is Target a bad place to register?

FI and I really like Target, but I seem to only hear negative things about them in forums. Does anyone have some experience to help us in our decision making? Thanks a bunch!

NO! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE Target. Did I mention that I love Target? I registered with them because I wanted a lot of things from them, lame reasoning huh? I've heard their furniture is kind of shoddy in construction but whatever, its Target furniture, what do you expect, you know? I registered for some bookshelves, we'll see how that goes. What have you heard?

I also registered with Macy's and Horchow so its quite the variety price wise, people are going to think I'm nuts but hey, its Target. Can't say no!

I love Target!! We are planning on registering there too.
They offer a 10% discount for you and your fiance to purchase the items that people don't get for you which is really nice.

I love target as well however I cancelled my registration there. One it is super impersonal, when you go in the store to register you still do it online without even talking to any workers about it...then you pick up the gun from a girl at the desk. Two their return policy it sooo bad...if you dont have a recept,as with most stores, you get a store credit at the last sale price...however at target you must spend the store credit in the same department as the item your returning came from. thrid I walk around the store forever and decided that the items I actully wanted wernt something that should be on a bridal registry but more like a birthday wish list. I went with bed bath and beyound because, one they give coupons for 20% off every week. two their return is great..if it is on your registry and you dont have a recept they let you do whatever you want...cash...xchange doesnt matter. three they cared they checked in on me all the time, gave us drinks while we were "shopping" even offerd to walk us around the whole time if we wanted. Also when all is said and done you get a % off for up to a year if you didnt get it from your guest. I could go on and on for both target and BBAB I did my homework...lol. hope this helps a little good luck

First of all, I am with Champ, I LOVE Target! That being said, I have to agree with jersey. My friend recently registered at Target for her Baby Shower. During that time is when they changed their return policy, not only the things that jersey said, but you are limited to the # of returns without a receipt, and they monitor this by using your DL#. As much as I love Target, I wouldn't register there.

We did register at Macy's, Crate & Barrel, and Linens N Things, to give our guest choices and different $ amounts.

I love Target, I could live at Target. We registered there, because not all of our friends and family have a lot of money and I dont want them to feel pressured to have to spend $50+ if they cannot afford it. You can get really nice things at Target.

I say go for Target, but go for a nicer place to register as well.

we'll probably register at macy*s, crate and barrel, and bb&b (gotta love that cash back return policy! not to mention the 20% off coupons for your guests).

I too have heard horrible things about their return policies.

I plan on registering there anyway along with Crate & Barrel and maaaaybe one other store. The items at Target we register for are going to be simple things that we really do want a lot- since returning them will probably be an impossibility. I absolutely love Target though. They have everything!

Thanks for the feedback. I love Target too so I'm torn. Originally we were going to just have a generic online registry (kaboodle.com), but then we realized we wouldn't know who bought what.

Thanks for the heads up...I was going to say I love Target and recently registered there (along with Macy's). Now that I've heard about their return policy I'm going to investigate and probably follow in champagne's footsteps in reducing the number of items that I register for there. I thought it was a great place because everyone has Target nearby and their prices are so low!

We registered at Amazon.com primarily, but they're linked with Target as well as a myriad of other retailers. We did return some gifts there, but our guests had included the gift receipts for them so we had NO issues. I like Target because there are price points for everyone's pocket book there and they have some great stuff! We got a new coffee pot, waffle iron, crock pot and corning ware! LOVE IT!

I also had someone warn me about Crate and Barrel- they change design/stock every season so if your set is not complete or if you break anything; it might not be possible to replace anything or complete your set later on
