OK, so it's in it's plastic safety wrap so forgive the glare...but here it is!! We love it!
it's gorgeous!!!!! I just LOVE the interfaith iv text! you had it personalized too, right? (not that i can read it from the pic) i really debated on getting one with a tree of life motif or the two interlocked rings.....
oh, and was it shipped flat like that, or rolled in a tube?
We did get it personalized...it looks good :)
It came in a tube :) Thanks doll!! I can't wait for you to get yours!!
Rach, your ketubah is lovely! When I worked in picture framing the ketubahs that I saw were almost always round. I love the look of yours. Kinda makes me wish I was Jewish...
After the wedding make sure you frame it with conservation mounting and conservation glass. Keep that baby safe. ;-)
I'm not jewish, so I don't know what that is? I'm curious to know, can one of you lovely ladies give me a basic run down of it?
OMG, Rach... your ketubah is so beautiful...
it's basically a "marriage contract" (i'm not jewish either)....you can chose a non-denominational, or interfaith, one....... usually the verse is written in hebrew and in english.....kind of like vows....
this is the one i'm getting.....http://www.mpartworks.com/product.php?productid=andmybelovedismine3
you can click to enlarge, and click on text to see the different versions you can have printed...rach and I both happened to choose Interfaith IV.....
You said it perfectly Jackie!!! I was thinking of printing out the words and adding it to the back of the program. FI still insists on doing the program. Makes sense though, for the nonjews to understand all the symbolism! Whatcha think?
And thanks for the heads up Abatty!!!
I love it! I definitely am getting my Ketubah from that site! They have beautiful stuff there!
Let me know when you are!!! I have a 20% off code!!!!!
yes...i've read that due to the glicee (sp?) it has to be mounted a special way...so as to not get moisture on it/mold....icky!!
oooh...that's a great idea Rach!! i'm getting sooo excited!! we sign it BEFORE the ceremony, right?
Yep, before :) And actually, in the jewish faith that means your married!! You are part jew now baby!!
Mazel tov!!! :)
so how far ahead of the ceremony are you doing it? do you guys see each other, like sign it together, or sign separately?
I don't know. Gotta ask Rabbi Ian that. And you both have to be present (with 2 witnesses) so maybe some people do it after. Hmmm...
We are seeing each other before so it's not a prob. I'll ask around!
well, our officiant is a CA judge....so he will probably be good any way we want to do it.... i'm just wondering if we should all (all 5 of us) get together to do it and have pix/video too....or if maybe the judge brings to each of us individually...i.e. moh will be with me and bm will be with him....we're seeing each other before too...i just want to make sure we are ready and allot time for it....let me know what Rabbi Ian says! :)
My cousin signed hers together, during the actual ceremony!
hmmm...that might be a good idea...since our ceremony is really short anyway....
it was kinda of cute, they had it propped up on an easil so everyone could see it. and it was on the lines of the "first kiss" to make their marriage "official."
that's really cool...i'll definitely have to think about that....
rach...did it come in the plastic inside the tube? i think i'm gonna order my sample soon....then i get $20 towards my order? it says 1-3 weeks time for the actual ketubah...how long did yours take?
If it's a giclee (Jee-CLAY), then yes, it needs to be mounted using all acid-free materials. You will have to use a mat or spacers so the glass doesn't touch the ketubah. Then, you need to make sure it doesn't hang near a heating vent, near a bathroom shower, or on a wall that gets direct sunlight. Any of these can cause condensation to collect under the glass. That's un-good.
There's no framing technique that completely protects the art from the atmosphere, so you need to be aware of it's surroundings. I had a client hang a framed Egyptian papyrus next to his sauna and he got all pissed off at me when the papyrus got wavy and moldy. duh!!
Jackie - that ketubah is really beautiful. I love the green circle theme. Really nice.
