What are you ladies doing with your last name? Keeping it, taking his, hyphenating...

I cannot wait to take his. Four letters less than my maiden and simple! He thinks I am marrying him for the name!

I'm keeping mine, but only because our names put together sound aweful *L. His last name is Cober, which every hears as Cobern or Coberg so it's always needing to be corrected, and when put after Amber it just doesn't work for me *smiles*.

I'm definitely taking his. I'm a half Mexican girl who looks white and has a white last name. When I take his Mexican last name, people might actually believe me!

i have not decided. I have a little problem prononcing correctly. It's Osuna but I turn the s into a z when I say it. He gets so mad. lol For works purposes it will be a pain to change. I am considering hypenating.

With California's new state law (in effect Jan. 1st) the woman AND the man can change their name to whatever they want (that's right, WHATEVER) they want when they get married.

I might do a hypen of my step-dad's last name and my FI's. Mostly because he's like my real father since mine had passed and I've always wanted to incorporate it since he never had any sons.

I'm taking his. But... not right away. We were actually married in December 07 but are not having the wedding until Feb. 09. I'm taking his name after 'the big wedding'. That way we mark the second wedding with more than just a party! :)

I thought about hyphenating, but everyone always mispronounces and/or mispells my last name. So it will be "James". Short and simple.

I am taking his...but, will continue to be known by my last name at work...this may get complicated...but I feel like I have worked hard to get this far and in the production world...your next job comes from word of mouth or someone recommending you...I am just afraid it might be a step back if I change my last name....but it will be cute when I change it...it almost ryhmes...

I think I will be hyphenating mine with his. I come from a family of only girls and would love to contiue to honor my family (and dad) by passing down the name. So I'll just hyphenate so i can keep both!

I just added his name after mine, no hyphen, just a space. That way I can still just use my maiden name for career-related stuff and my new name for my new business and social stuff. I FINALLY changed it last week at the SSI and DMV...what a PITA!
