Spring/Summer 2012 Baby Bumps!

**Julia**

Hi Julia,

Just checkin in with you and Keaton and seeing how you are doing. Looks like you are doing really well and are enjoying your little man as much as I am enjoying Cash. How is the recovery from the c section? I am curious to see how other people are doing. I know everyone heals at a different rate. Cash is two weeks and I think I am finally off the Norco and now just on advil. Not that I am a 100% or anything but I am doing much better. Still a little bit of pain but I don't really want to be on Norco more than I have to. I think I will start driving again this weekend. Still not picking much up except for Cash and am looking forward to starting to go on casual walks with Cash. I am sure I won't be up for major exercise for awhile though. Glad we both have lost a lot of weight so far!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOO! And thank god! When you have a moment let me know how you are doing.

P.S. PLEASEEEEEE take a stool softener every day that you are still on the Norco....don't do what I did and stop taking them. Withought giving you TMI....I thought I was going to die of constipation. It was NO JOKE!

OMG...i totally missed this!  I've obviously been away too long! :)

My c-section recovery has been sooo much easier than I expected!  After a week I went from 2 pain pills every 6 hours to just 1 and then this whole week I just take one in the morning!  Today was my last pill...my dr asked if I wanted more and I said no!  woo hoo.  I have been feeling pretty normal and even though my incision was pretty long (about two inches longer than normal to get him out) you can barely even see my scar which is awesome!

I'm not picking up anything more than just Keaton.  And Jeff won't let me drive until I've been off my meds for a couple of days so hopefully next week but he really doesn't want me driving until I can lift more than 10 pounds.  The dr didn't give me a time frame for when I could do that so we're going to see how i'm feeling after next tuesday when he turns 3 weeks.  I still haven't gotten out to walk like i've wanted to.  We tried last week after dinner but it was during Keaton's fussy time and he was NOT having it...plus the dogs were all sorts of crazy so we were a hot mess walking down the street.  I'm thinking next week we'll start going for morning walks since that's when he seems to be the calmest.

I went from 216 when I went into labor and i'm down to 174!!!  So I think we're doing pretty awesome!

I have been taking Colace consistently since I hit 36weeks pregnant!  So i've been all over it.  I didn't have my first bm until 6-7 days pp...and I was in there for an hour and literally crying the entire time!  It was horrible...but after the initial "start" it definitely got easier!

The mastitis that i'm dealing with now I have to say has been much worst than the c/s recovery.  I started out with a clogged duct last week and was able to work through it...then this week I got them again in both breasts and I was able to work out the one on my right side but the left side just got worse.  What's tought about it...tmi...is that it feels like a rock right behind my nipple so I can't really work it out while pumping or nursing and then I have a lump in my arm pit as well which is definitely painful.  Jeff rushed me to the dr's office yesterday morning because I had the chills, cold sweats, and nausea and she said that my flange's on my pump were too small and that it was a good thing I came in!  Jeff got me bigger flange's last night and then the antibiotics have helped a bit but I still have the lumps that i can't seem to get worked out.  But I know it will only take time!

I'm having to feed Keaton mostly formula because he's just so big the BM doesn't keep him full longer than 30-60min.  This doesn't bother me because I knew I wasn't all for breastmilk anyway but i'm still incorporating the breastmilk because i find it helps regulate his bowels.  So in the morning I nurse both sides and then 30min later he gets a 2oz bottle of formula, during the day he gets 2.5oz formula with .5oz of breastmilk mixed in and then at night he gets 3oz formula with 1oz of breastmilk mixed in!  It's actually been a nice routine.  I feel like i'm in chemistry putting all of the breastmilk in little viles all measured out...lol.  At his 2 week appt he was 9lbs 7oz!  So he was 3oz above his birth weight.  I have a little piglet on my hands!

I hope everything is going well with you and Cash and I hope you're enjoying your time off work!  It's been alot easier being off work than I thought it was going to be.  The hardest part seems to be when Keaton has is fussy moments.  It's usually around 5-6pm and then again around 2am.  But I have to keep reminding myself that they have a growth spurt around 3 weeks and he's going to be extra fussy.  EEK!!!

Julia glad to hear everything is going well minus the mastitis. One of my good friends had that and she ended up super sick and in bed. Glad you were on top of it though and hopefully it will go away soon.

My OB gave me the OK to drive now and I have been on some walks and errands with Cash. I stopped taking the norco at the 2 week mark. I still take advil from time to time for soreness but overall I am back to normal. My OB also told me not to pick up more than 20 lbs. so I am trying my best to be careful. I can hardly believe how quickly my incision has healed. I can imagine that in a few months from now you will hardly be able to see it.

Unfortunately, after a week or so of trying to breastfeed I found out my milk never came in. Cash ended up losing weight and so I had to start using formula. I even tried pumping and NOTHING. So at this point he is a formula baby which is a bit disappointing because I had planned to breastfeed for at least 4-6 months.

What I have learned during this pregnancy is that I can't control everything like I want to. And sometimes things don't go according to plan ( ex: breech baby, c-section, breastfeeding). This has been a huge lesson to me because I am such a control freak. But after all of that I got the best prize of all....a healthy baby boy.

Congrats on Keaton he is so cute!!!!
