Kind of freaking out just a little bit...

*** UPDATE BELOW***

I'm in the biggest pickle right now.  Since being PG I've had 2 doctors monitoring me.  My Obstrecian and then my Endocrinologist.

Last week my Obs asked me if he thought my Endocrinologist would allow me to have a natural birth and to push.  My Endo basically said that he'd like me to as it's faster for my recovery and then they can start getting my health back on track.  However he also said he doesn't want me to push for too long as it can cause my tumor to leak or rupture.  So now I don't want to push at all bcause I'm totally freaked out.

I know it's a really personal question but wwyd?  would you ask for an elective c-section or would you take the risk?  Also... both doctors are away on my due date!  Argghhh.

Hi Jenny! Oh my, this would freak me out too, I totally understand your fear.

I'm for a natural birth, but I would totally consider a c-section if there should be any health issue for me or for the baby. I would talk again to both docs, talk about your concern, what is stressing you out and ask for more details considering the risks and what could happen. And then it's you decision alone if you want to have a c-section.

<hugs>

Hmm, in a perfect world I would say natural birth, but I think if pushing will give you a lot of anxiety, it might be best to discuss c-section options and risks with both of your doctors. I know it will be a tough decision, but in the end it might be better to be on the safe side.

I am typically all about natural also. However, if there is anxiety and lots of fear surrounding an already anxious time, your body will know it. It might be in your best interest to consider a c-section if the anxiety/fear gets the best of you since it can slow down labor significantly and pushing in your case can lead to risks. Although, if they are not worried about not being there to deliver & have given you the option to birth vaginally, than I am sure you are in good hands for monitoring if you waited to go into labor on your own. Think about it, if it wasnt an option, they wouldnt have even toyed with the idea of you pushing and healing on your own....

Ditto Mar 100% - I think it is a good sign that they gave you the option, but would definitely understand if you wanted to eliminate that risk.

I would just go with the option that poses the least amount of risk for both you and your LO. Even though normally, natural is the best way to go, unfortunately it's not always the best option for everyone. Just gotta do what you gotta do! I hope that it all goes beautifully for you when the time comes!

Thanks girls - I've got a follow up with my OBS on the 5th August so I'll be able to discuss it a little more with him.  As long as bubba is delivered healthy and safely I'll be happy :)

I had 2 super easy csections & recoveries but I would still chose vaginal birth if it was a possibility.

I had a long chat with my OBS ytesterday and he said the safest thing for me would to be induced before he goes away.  So my due date has now moved forward a week.

I'll be going into hospital on 15th to have a check up to see whether he thinks I'll be able to push... then on the evening of the 16th I'll be induced and our baby will be born on 17th.  The hope is I'll be able to have a natural birth but they can monitor my head and if it gets too much then I'll have a c section.  So now I'm pretty relieved that there is a plan of action!

 It sounds like a good plan of action, and I'm glad you'll be able to have your OB with you.

I was induced also and I have a lot of people who are like, I'd never want that but I got induced because of a plan that worked for both baby and I and my OB was on call that weekend. I would pick being induced knowing I had the OB I loved around as to waiting and having a doctor I didnt know/hated there.
