Las Vegas recommendations?

DH and I just booked a trip for our two year anniversary: Las Vegas! We'll be there for five days in early July, staying at the MGM Grand. If anyone has recommendations of things to do or see, please share! DH has never been there before, and I haven't been there in over a decade (and I was only 20 - what a waste, haha).

Thanks!

Hey Lauren!!!  I can call DH's friend and find out some places - he lives in Las Vegas.  Give me a day or so and I'll post anything I find out for you.  : )

Can't believe it is 2 years for you and your DH!!!

Ahhh Lauren you'll love it!!!

I was in Vegas a few weeks back and (have been 3 yrs on the trot) meaning quite a few recommendations for you!  Firstly you HAVE to see a show... I recommend Le Reve and/or O.  They are both outstanding!!  There's also the Bellagio Fountains which are fun to see in the evening.  If you can, take a Helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon.

Food wise... if you like Burgers, I recommend a place called BLT - it's located in the Mirage and really casual.  Their burgers and shakes are absolutely delicious!!

Drink wise... check out the Chandelier Bar in the Cosmopolitan Hotel - it is what it is... a chandelier in the middle of the hotel with a bar in the middle!!!  Something that you can't miss.

If DH has never been it's definitely worth going from hotel to hotel along the strip to see how they look.  I have more suggestions but worried I'll bore you to death!  Feel free to PM me if you want any more info :-)

Just heard back from our friend out in Vegas.

If they are the clubbing type I dont have a clue. But seeing shows, any shows for that matter is a great experience. Doesn't matter which one they are all great. Depending on what hotel they are staying at but they are all great places to have fun. If they are old like us and really wanna see some neat stuff I recommend the "Body exhibits", Madame Tussauds Wax museum, La' Rev show at the Wynn. Other than that, Vegas has so much shit I can't even begin to put a list together because we just don't know of it even though we live here. We never go down there unless it's for a good reason. One thing though, that if they are into bar hopping, I would do Freemont Street. Theres always free outdoor concerts going on and it's the older side of Vegas. For Outdoor stuff I would go to Red Rock Canyon Park to get some good Kodak moments.

We love Treasure Island and the Show in front of the hotel. I agree with Beccas friend there are so many good shows. And there are always stars there giving concerts to comedians so depending who or what your into your bound to find something/someone to see. Two other things I think are must sees the M &M store and the Coke store. Margaritaville is a fun bar.

You are going to love Vegas.  I have only been twice but you have to make sure you see at least one cirque du soleil show.  They are so amazing.  We have only stayed at Planet Hollywood so I can't really recommend anything other than that.

Also, Valley of Fire was AMAZING and so worth our time.

I so fell in love with Vegas and didn't want to come back!!! Me and DH do not gamble, so we enjoyed going to shows and sight seeing. We did the Hoover Dam Tour, went to Madame Tussands Wax Museum (amazing!!!) and the Bellagio Fountains at night are so pretty to look at! Cirque du Soliel if you are into that kind of thing is a must, must see!!! We are true adventurers, so we rented a car and got away from the strip and went to a town that sold all kind of neat items and was a ghost town as well! We took a dip in some hot springs and we steered clear from most of the restaurants on the strip because they were so darn expensive. Have a blast!

the travel channel has tons of shows on vegas.  lots that recommend restaurants, shows etc.  i would look that the schedule on your tv and dvr them.  they usually have several every month.  when they have them on, there is usually a marathon of vegas themed shows.

ive never been to vegas, so this is my best advice.

oh...and there is an app for the iphone called "tv food maps" you can search for restaurants that have been featured on tv in whatever area you are in.  that would be helpful.

Oh dear lord! This post is for me! I am going back for the third time next Sunday for our annual honeymoon!
I think you should definitely see a Cirque show! The wax museum is something we do every time we are in town! Also do a gondola ride inside the Venetian! They sung Italian love songs as you go through the "canal". We aren't gamblers or drinkers so I can't suggest club ish things but there is a show that we absolutely love! His name is Anthony Cools and he is a comedic hypnotist! You MUST eat at the buffet inside of the Mirage & Bellagio! Bellagio was rated the #1 Buffet in the world! The siren show in front of Treasure Island is great too! So is the Bellagio fountain show. If you want fine dining then eat at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant. There is a ton of shopping to be had & if you are into people watching there are tons of acts & people in costume that perform on the strip for free but they all usually have a tip box. Be sure to see the M&M factory! There is something there for everyone!!!!

You girls are awesome - This is seriously great info!

We were definitely planning at least one Cirque du Soleil show, but we hadn't made up our minds about anything else. Your suggestions are fabulous :)
