last minute RSVPs

Is anyone dealing with late RSVPs?  Its sooo frustrating.  I mean we did plan our wedding really rushed, but we gave everyone 3 months notice with the date and the invitations went out shortly thereafter so that people could know if they could come or not by the time they got the invitations.

Our RSVP date was this past weekend (July 10/11) because the wedding is August 8th.  We actually gave a buffer of a week because I knew we would have to hunt people down.

People waited until last minute to respond.  Some people said maybe...SERIOUSLY?  How do you say "maybe" to a wedding????  Either you're free or you're not free.  My family's side finally finished responding (even them some of them we had to hunt down, like my own cousins, wtf)...FI's side still has like 6 families pending.  Some are like "oh we can't come, we'll be traveling so maybe we'll send our son instead"...MAYBE???  And sending someone instead??  Another family is in Cali (we live in NJ) and still have not purchased their tickets but they won't say NO...they keep telling FI's mom "oh we haven't decided yet, we're going to try to come"....

Its beyond frustrating!

It did happened to me, how do I dealt with this....easy

I gave a due date on the STD

day after the due date, I sent an email as a reminder giving extra 5 days.

due date after those 5 days, I started calling.  If the guests do not answer just leave a nice message and understand that if didn't respond to the initial RSVP is just because is not interested.

I did really worked.

The crazy thing is that our reception is at an Indian hall so they pretty much know that some people will just show up so they give us an extra table just in case.  It just bothers me because my parents are paying and I don't want them to have to pay for last minute people that didn't really care to be there you know??  We've told everyone we need a final headcount and everything and people are still like 'oh we'll let you know this weekend'...NO TELL ME NOW!

FI's mom is being too nice.  I understand for one person who's wife recently passed away (and he's FI's godfather) so he's not sure if he's ready to come out yet.  But everyone else...Whats your excuse?  I'm sorry but if you haven't bought your ticket to come yet...then NO!

One family was like "oh we have something else that day but let me see if we can get out of it"...so I said to him, how do we they aren't saying that to their other plans like "oh we got invited to a wedding but we're trying to get out of that"!!!

Since we planned the wedding so last minute, we said people could RSVP through our website or call a bunch of us (we left phone numbers for like myself, both parents, siblings and FI)...people would call just to catch up and not even mention the wedding!

Oh and the BEST....my cousins...they apparently are sooo busy with their new jobs and who knows what else is going on in their lives...they're too busy to respond.  BUT nevermind the fact that I'm planning a wedding in 3 months.  I must not be busy at all!  Seriously, what is wrong with people!?
