Leg cramps

So I've been waking up, in the middle of the night usually, with horrible cramps in my calves! It happens when I stretch out my legs and I have to flex my foot to work them out, so I'm in agonizing pain for like 10-15 seconds. They hurt SO bad. Do any of you get these as well or know how to prevent them? I might throw something next time it happens lol

OMG!  I get these too, to the point where I've been almost put to tears.  And I make it happen without thinking, like I'll roll over and do a good stretch and bam!  I haven't found anything to make mine go away.  I try eating more bananas but I haven't noticed any difference yet.

i get them too!  unfortunately it only gets worse as we get bigger because the additional weight and pressure on our lower veins and arteries causes them - i learned that through my pregnancy app!  i find that i get them when i point my toe/foot to stretch, and if i flex it back immediately after feeling one come on, it stops it from happening!  they also say flexing and circling your feet every few hours and before bed can help keep the muscles loose.

I usually put some banana in my smoothies in the morning so I was wondering why they were still happening! It could very well be dehydration though. I could be drinking way more water throughout my day, so I'll be trying to get more hydrated and see if that helps. I hope yours go away too AuntTate, they're so painful!

Oh good tip Haleighb! I'll have to try to remember that when I'm half asleep and panicking when I feel one coming on haha!

i got two in a row in the same leg one night.  i made it through the first one without waking DH, but the second one that came on immediately after was 10 times worse and i was thrashing every where practically in tears!

Do you ever get a bad one and then have the thought, "sweet lord if I can't handle a leg cramp, how in the world am I going to survive child birth?!?" haha

Sadly, I think leg cramps are common.  I get them too at night when I try to stretch my toes to lift a blanket or something.  The the cramps come on and I immediately yelp, and hop out of bed trying to smooth it out.  I've been better later with dealing with the pain.  Someone told me that contractions feel like leg cramps only in your stomach.  Not sure if that's true but I've been trying to relax and deal with the pain while smoothing it out.

Oh I feel so bad my DH wakes up every time cause I can't stay quiet and still. And I've always wondered how they compare to contractions. They're pretty freakin painful so I would imagine they'd be similar.. Yikes!
