Let's talk lunch

Do you pack lunch or buy it near work?

What do you typically have?

I try to pack 4 days a week, 1 day I splurge (financially) and buy.

I try to make lunch my biggest meal of the day so I have more time to burn it off.

Today I had:

chicken salad sandwhich on double fiber bread with a slice of light swiss cheese and some fresh spinach.  on the side I had 4 thick cucumber slices, 5 baby carrots and 2 tbs of hummus.  Drank a diet green tea and about half an hour after lunch I had a cup of unsweetened applesauce. Am FULL!

That's a pretty typical lunch for me when I bring from home.

How about you?

That's an awesome lunch Lorriene!

I work from home most days, which can be bad. . .

A lot of times I'll have leftovers (we make pretty healthy dinners around here so it's all good)

Other times I'll have a cup of split pea or black bean soup with some fruit

Spinach salad with whatever veggies we have

Chicken stir fry with no rice

I <3 unsweetened applesauce, yum!

I do pack now.  I used to buy every day so I am pretty happy both financially and health wise here!  I love the healthy choice steamer frozen meals and I'll usually have carrots and/or yogurt with it.

mmmm! I wish I made chicken salad now, it's one of my faves with APPLES and walnuts in it. yum yum!

I only work a couple times a week in the afternoon so my lunch is always from home. My weight-loss strategy is 3 small meals and two small snacks every 90 minutes, so my lunch was tiny. 3 lettuce wraps; 4 oz of chopped grilled fajita chicken, 2 TB of guacamole (I have the Chipotle recipe which is pure avo. and veggies. VERY healthy!) 1 TB of salsa and a sprinkle of skim-cheddar. I had 1 litre of water with lunch. It was filling and only 250 calories!

I always buy but it's pretty healthy (its custom made - multi grain sandwhich with smoked turkey, lettuce, tomato, and only one slice of cheese) but I do try to bring 100 calorie snacks

I pretty much always buy, im always on the run with having two jobs, these are some of the things ive found to be my most favorite healthy meals.

Wendy's- cheeseburger deluxe, no cheese, no condiments except for mustard, Mandarin oranges, and a water. (this has tons of veggies on it, and you get your protein from the burger) it's about a 340 calorie meal.

McDonald's- i know i know, but not everything is so terrible there. a regular egg mcmuffin (which is just cheese, ham, and egg) is 300 calories, drink it with water to get filled up faster.

starbucks- spinach, artichoke, and egg wrap. 300 calories and delicious

if i do pack a lunch i bring a lean cuisine which are very filling and delicious. most of them are about 260 calories, and i bring along 90 calorie granola bars. mmmmm mmmm... I'm hungry now.

i always bring my own lunch except on Fridays when i treat myself to whatever i want.  so usually i bring a tuna caserole, brown rice w/salmon and veggies, chicken salad, soup with a sandwich, brown rice w/baked chicken and veggies or wheat pasta with meat sauce.  i drink water through-out the day.  my problem arises when i walk outside during my lunch break and pass a CVS.  that is where the danger is.

I would say 75% of the time I pack a lunch.

I usually bring leftovers or a delicious sandwich and a small salad w/ loads of veggies and fruits. I try to buy more fruits like berries and stuff b/c they are more exciting than a plain old apple! And then I look forward to eating it.

I like to bring leftovers for lunch, but sometimes I bring a sandwich, a little baggie of baked chips, and a piece of fruit.  I love these things called Sandwich Thins.  They are like, hamburger bun sized, but they are whole grain, and a lot thinner.  So instead of 200 calories for 2 slices of bread, the whole thing is 100, and each one has 5 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein!  They are wonderful toasted. :)
