LH Surge More Than Once in a Month??

So this is a bit out of the norm for me... AF came Nov. 1 and last bit of spotting lasted into the 6th so I usually chart my AF days about 6 days long on FF until basically all gone. I read in my OPK that you typically start testing on day 6, but I know my average cycle is 35 days according to FF. (My last one was 30 days, and before my M/C in October the cycle before that was 44!) so needless to say, it's a bit all over sometimes. Well, in previous cycles (last few months) I got a +OPK on day 20 then day 15 last cycle. Knowing it's typically in the middle or later, I don't usually start OPK testing til like day 10 or 12. I happened to test the pther day on day 9 and got a +! Then the next day and every day since it's been -. What gives! First of all, that's very early for me, especially when my cycles tend to be longer, so I'm wondeirng if it's possible I didn't O and I may get another + later this cycle?? The other problem is I haven't been temping either so I'm not sure if that +OPK resulted in me O-ing or was just a random surge if that's possible, but the last few months I've always "caught" a + OPK at some point. ANd obviously, due to M/C I know I must be O-ing or capable of bc it resulted in BFP before. It also seems odd to me it was only + the one day (unless it was day 8 since I didn't test then?) I'm not sure what to think! Would you keep testing this cycle and see if I get a + again since it was so unusually early?

Crazy dog lady here! I only know the answer to this because I'm a breeder!

Short answer is yes, you can surge twice without the first resulting in O.

So many things can cause your body to stop a process it starts - stress, you may be fighting a cold virus even if you don't have symptoms, you may have exercised too hard or not enough, maybe you didn't get enough sleep - your body is a very delicate system and the tiniest thing can throw it off without warning - it can be frustrating!

It may be that your body started a surge early for some strange reason and might never do it again, you just happened to catch it - maybe women's intuition that something was different?

It is also possible that you just plain O'd early this month - without temps or a blood test to verify progesterone levels you can't tell. If you did, expect AF to be earlier, around the time your LP usually ends in regular months.... HTH!

Thanks for the information ladies! Yeah, I just thought it was odd it was so early, and I feel like I'm always just "happening to catch" the +OPK. Like I'll only get a + 1 day and what was strange was looking back at my Sept chart when I would've gotten pregnant, we BD'ed on the 18th and then I didn't get a +OPK til the 22nd! I don't remember if I tested the 21st, but odd I somehow got a BFP in October but wouldn't have O'ed until 4 or 5 days after BDing?? Sometimes I just feel like I'm not noticing a consistent pattern with my own body yet, even after somewhat charting and paying attention since May. It is frustrating. I wonder if it's better to BD right before getting the +OPK and hoping the sperm hangs on til you O or right after +OPK, but obviously it would be hard to know when it's coming. *sigh

I have O'd anywhere from the same day as my 1st + to 3 days after my 1st +, I think your best bet is to BD every other day. We were not TTC last cyle because of a health issue so I didn't use OPKs and I felt sooooo less stressed. I continued to temp to see if I was O'ing, and I can tell you I won't be using OPKs anymore. Just BDing everyother day and temping to confirm an O =)

Good thinking, Claire! It turns out I did have 2 surges bc I got a + OPK on C16 and C17 which was yesterday and the day before! I'm assuming the first + obviously did not result in an O and maybe I should start temping again to get a better idea of when I do.

Thank you! :) We've both had goofy schedules since + OPK days, but managed to BD both of those days, but not since. Boo. Here's hoping his swimmers can stay alive for awhile! lol since I have not been temping, I'm not sure when I O'ed.
