Lighting for Centerpieces!

Ok.. So over the weekend I went and met with the florist and it was super fun! :]

I told her I was going to do teh submerged flowers in water in the cylinder vases and I wanted to put LED lights in the bottom of the vases to use as some uplighting. But My florist said that at some other wedding she went to they bride used some kind of lighting where it looked like a glow stick and you snapped it and then it light up and stayed light for the entire party... but I have no idea where I would find that or what the heck she was talking about!

Do any of you know what that might be or where I could get them.. or if there are any cheaper alternatives besides LED lights?

Maybe she was talking about glow sticks - similar to the ones used at Halloween? You do have to snap them to get them working! They sell them on EBAY as well as if you just do a google search for "glow sticks" - a ton of different sites come up.  Just make sure they are the ones that will stay lit for a few hours - not the ones that are bright for an hour and die out. :)

Yes, I have seen them- I think in LA when we were in shopping- but I know they are around- they are tiny

I know Walmart carries lighting to now- look in their wedding section!

Do they really light up the entire vase? So it has the appearance of a LED light?

We went with the little LED submersibles too, and since we had a little "pond" theme going, we painted the base black to match the rocks and so they looked like little fireflies :) They still have like 30 hours of battery in them too!

I got mine at a wholesale floral shop in my area, but I went on save-on-crafts first to test them out and I think they had some other types of under water lighting too, so you might want to check them out (I would have gone 100% with them, but I started to cut it too close to be sure of the delivery date)

Yes! I def. will! The florist said that the bride originally had the LED lights and the next day she came to turn the lights on after they had been sitting in the water... and THEY DIDN'T WORK!

So she went out and bought the glow stick things! So I do not want to spend all that money for them to not work! I just want to make sure they look jjust as good... or pretty darm close! haha

I want to do the same!  I think I'm using these (which I believe go underneath the vase? but not sure)..

I want to do photo 87760-1

And then these are probably what she was talking about?  Maybe you can order 1 and test it.  that's what I'll probably do.  Maybe she had them on the "on" position so the batteries died??

This link shows all the types available.  Some are reusable, while others are a one-time use only.

Oh those are the ones we did !! They worked really well (and they still have like 20-30 hours of life left!) Thy are a little smaller than I originally thought, so if you use them make sure you order a test bunch to make sure you have enough in mind :)
