Looking for Rustic/Barn Reception in Sacramento/Lodi Area

My fiance and I found the perfect venue that was rustic with a barn in Lodi and then we found out after we already signed the contract and paid our first depost that we could no longer use the barn. Now we are fighting to get our deposit back and starting to look all over for a new barn venue which in turn means we are pushing back our wedding. If anyone knows of any places in the Sacramento/Lodi area (or even a little further out) I would be very appreciative of the help.

That's so sad :( Sorry I don't know anything about the area, but I hope you find something!

How much further out? Might I suggest Napa Valley/Sonoma?  They do have a few places in that area that have barns.

One more thing, did you check the SF Bay Area Brides group?  Someone else recently in the bay area had been looking for your type of venue too.  SanFran posted a link about rustic barns from "here comes the guide"!  Here's the link to the thread

Good luck!

Try Crawford's Barn in Sacramento...near the American River.  It's a converted barn and private park.  They hold lots of weddings there and I'm thinking of booking it for my summer picnic wedding.  Good Luck!

Hey, I can help with that one!

Like the other post said, Crawford's Barn is an old standard: crawfordsbarn.org That's in Sacramento

The Flower Farm Inn in Loomis is a stunner and has a beautiful red barn, hardwood floors, great, beautiful space, just outside sac, like 10 minutes: flowerfarminn.com

And the Bayley House Barn in Pilot Hill off Hwy 49 was restored a couple years ago as well. Their website sucks, but I've been to a wedding there.. .I don't see rental information on their site, but contact them and ask, it never hurts. It's a big traditional wood brown barn, high ceilings, and I remember it having a kitchen. The ceremony wasn't on site, so I couldn't tell you if there was an available outdoor space for that, although the other two places do have that:  I can't post links because I haven't posted before, so sorry these links aren't active... this one has a funny address... bayley.s2nvdev.com

If you head outside the Sac area there are of course other barn places, there is a particular stunner in Half Moon Bay, but again, it's quite a bit further out. These three venues are all very close to you right now

Hope that helps! And btw, if it was written in your original contract that the barn was part of your agreement, if they changed that, or backed out, they are in breech of contact and they must return your deposit. Period. Also, if they used the term "deposit" on the paperwork at all, and not the word "retainer" they can't make it non refundable. A deposit by california law and definition cannot be nonrefundable, even if it says it is nonrefundable. Only a retainer can be nonrefundable.

Thank you for all your help!

We actually are debating on the Flower farm but it's not exactly what we want. And Crawfords barn isn't going to be big enough because we are having 200 guests. I will have to email the Bayley house and see if I can get information on that.

We are willing to look a couple hours away if we can find the perfect place.

Hmmmm.... Flower Farm IS pretty clean... it's more of a clean pretend barn than a rustic barn. lol

I'm more than a little afraid this is your actual original venue but Oak Farm Vineyards in Lodi- big barn there! Very pretty.

This venue was just featured on Ruffled a few weeks ago and is a TOTAL stunner. One of my girl's dad went to HS with the guy that owns the place and might get married here- she just lost her venue as well, but she'd rather get married locally, but oooh this place is such a stunner in pictures!  cayucoscreekbarn.com

The blog post on Ruffled gives you a MUCH better perspective on that white barn, the second location than the official website does, btw. Beautiful place! It's on the coast, in Cayucos

Sorry, one more comment here. Did you see that Crawford's Barn can seat 175 inside and has an occupancy for 250? And if you did an outdoor reception, you wouldn't have any restrictions at all on the occupancy. Unless you're getting married during rainy season? Is that an issue? Something to keep in mind. Unless you don't actually like the place! But it does say on their website, that they can accomdate pretty close to what you need.  It does depend on what your family and friends are like... but typically you'll get at least 20% No's on your RSVP's, and then an additional 5-10% or more no shows on top of that on the wedding day for one reason or another. But it depends on your group. With some families and cultures, nobody RSVP's, and they invite 30 of their friends and neighbors (unbeknownst to the bride and groom) and 200 extra people show up. LOL That's a rareity and the couple usually knows to anticipate that happening though.

If you're still looking for a place, there are a few great options listed online at a site called The Sonoma Wedding Guide.
