Hi dear! I know you mentioned that you are presently working with a client who loves carnations. What kind of bouquets are you look at, shape-wise? Esp other than pomanders because I've seen tons of beautiful pics of those but I'm wondering what else is out there. I found a photo of one of my grandmothers on her wedding day and she had a giant carnation cascade which I guess was quite popular in the 50's... anyhow I was just trying to research how they look in other shapes etc since I'm still stuck on my flowers!

How pretty is this from Martha btw?

Actually, she doesn't want to have carnations in her bouquet. But the BMs will have round rose + carnation handtied bouquets.

Similar to this one, but in peach and cream:

This bride actually wants a cascade of roses, orchids and lilies in white and blush. Similar to these:

Most modern pics with carnations I see are massed balls like the photo you posted or actual pomanders.

Here's a real modern take:

I have seen them used in mixed floral bouquets and think they look stunning in monochromatic clusters with other flowers.

I came across this in Real Simple Weddings demo about DIY flowers from the grocery store.

This one is from Dream Weddings on a Budget:

I love the idea of DIY flowers from the grocery store! Before we decided on a Hawaii DW, I had a reoccuring dream that we were married in the Rose Garden in San Jose and had our reception in a private room at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants (Cozy Restaurant on The Alameda). In this dream, I DIYd my flowers from Trader Joe's! How funny! I totally would have done something like that! Also, Costco has awesome floral offerings...and you can even order ahead and have them delivered.

I had DIYd flowers before from SF Flower Mart...but it's not neccessarily cheaper to buy flowers there unless you have a wholesale license. They have an awesome selection though!
