Lots of developments... good and bad... *sigh*

Well with just over 5 weeks to go, lots of developments in the last 24 hours.....

The GOOD...

Music - done

Floral order - done

Processional worksheet - done

VaBien bra I ordered last week - IN (and perfect)

The BAD.....

I finally found a veil (on Ebay) that I liked well enough... it's a mantilla trimmed in a narrow lace that compliments (since a perfect match wasn't happenin) my gown.  Great price, shipped super fast, arrived last night - and it's not a mantilla at all.  Just a normal, gathered veil.  *pout*  The lace is perfect, and I'd love it if it were a mantilla, but I very much do NOT love it as is.

I contacted the seller, and basically they're just like "Pfftt, return it." Um, what about the fact that you misrepresented the item, and then I'm out shipping both there and back?  I just want what I BOUGHT!!  *sigh*  I've responded to them and told them what I want/expect... so we'll see if maybe the follow up is better, but I'm not too optimistic.

And THEN......

We were planning on having an "after party" (informal reception/party) for our friends here in FL about a month after we get back from Vegas.  We'd been planning on having it at a clubhouse/pool in a friend's neighborhood (it's big, it's pretty, it's got a caterer's kitchen).  The friend kept forgetting to call the HOA and get the info... finally did.  Yeah, it's out.  We can only have a max of 20 people, and we can't even have access to the pool area itself (just the inside of the clubhouse).  And no DJs allowed.  *sigh*  So basically I've got about 3 days to find a new (afforable) location (otherwise I won't have time to order and receive the announcements/invitations in time) so I'm really just ready to throw my hands up and say forget it... no after party.

*sigh*

Oh yeah, and I can't find those Nine West sandals anywhere at ALL online, which means actually hitting the malls (I just can't find the time to do that right now!!  Arrgghhhh!!)

aww neebs! sorry about your veil drama. and sorry about your after party drama! i dont know if yo'ure into "clubs" but you could look for a local club and ask them how much they would charge to feed your guests? then you could stay for the club part! they'd probably give you a VIP area too if you have enough people. That way you could play off your "Vegas" theme? Or maybe a bar? My cousin had his at a local brewery. They closed the place for the day (he had 400 guests) and just had food and beer flowin. After the speeches the dj rolled in an turne down the lights and it turned into a partay!

Congrats on the good stuff!

As far as the "after party" goes, do you have any friends who run night clubs, or know people who do, who could hook you up? Or, does anyone have a really big yard that you could put up a tent in?

Check out this site, it lists a whole bunch of event venues http://www.eventective.com/USA/Florida/Jacksonville/

Aw I am sorry. At least you had a good list!! Country clubs are sometimes inexpensive, esspecially when it is not a wedding! We are having our after party at a country club and they are pretty laid back to what we can and cant do.

Thanks ladies... I'm just on an emotional rollercoaster this week.  Just when I feel I'm making progress, I have a setback (and I'm WAYYYYY oversensitive right now... lol).......

Not big on the night club idea... we wanted something more low key, casual and where we can chat with our friends... however that evencentive site has some good suggestions I've never even heard of (and I've lived here for 9 years!  lol)... Thank you!!

Sarah - Hmmmm... there is a really nice one near us, but I never even thought to contact them (but like you said, if I have it planned as just a PARTY and not a reception, it might be easier and cheaper!)

Ah you rock, Kristeen.  Thank you.  :)

Shoes?  I've got big ol canoes -- 10.  :)

Le Jardin was actually our original wedding location before we picked up and moved to Vegas... I hadn't considered just renting the place out for the party though (I love that place... so pretty!)

Thank you again!!!!!

I called the 800 # and they did a store search.  the only store in the whole US that has them is in Jacksonville.  I couldn't believe it.  You may need to say my name because the guy held them using mine.

neebs, we're the same shoe size! My mom (who is a 6) calls them battleships, like it helps?? What about the Chart House? They heard (somehow? magical wedding faries?) that we were getting married and invited us in for a tasting to rent out the place, maybe an option?? also what about the Cummer? They don't do "weddings" but they do do "events." Or what about the MOSH? I haven't been there yet but I've been to other parties at museums and they've always been fun... ooooo  what about the zoo??

EEE!!!!  Yeah I actually just posted about the shoes... picked em up last night!!  SOOOOOO excited!!

It's not that there's a shortage of venues where we can have a party, it's that we were trying to keep this low key/unfussy/informal, AND we're going to have just gotten back from the honeymoon, where I'm sure we'll go WAY over budget (lol) so we want to keep it not terribly expensive... Chart House and such = very pricey for parties (we've done work events there).  But thank you for the suggestion!  :)
