Make Up Forever girls!

I need your help - the Sephora near me doesn't have Make Up Forever in store so I have to order it online.

But I'm not sure what shade to get?  What shade do you use?

I was using Laura Mercier foundation in Sunny Beige, but it is proving to not be mattifying enough.  :(

I use makeup forever foundation.  I love it!  I don't know what color mines is (I'm darker than you), it was it was somewhere in the middle.  Why don't you email the beauty advisor on sephora.com.  They're really helpful.  I emailed them a few times to have them help me with makeup colors.

If you can figure out what shades you want to try, let me know and I'll get samples for you! I live like 2 minutes (driving) from the mall.

Doesn't Ulta carry this line?  Perhaps there is one near you.  Good luck!

Yes I have an Ulta in town too - but they don't have it in their store.  They don't carry Benefit either - makes me insane!

well, let me know what shade they think you're at. I could easily get you one shade up and down samples for you to try out in case the one you get doesn't work. Mat Velvet is SUPER drying on me (but could be fine on you). I would also look at the HD invisible foundation (also make-up-forever),

I think we're the same coloring based on Sunny Beige's description and what I usually get for HD invisible which is number 118. I can't remember which one I got for Mat Velvet.

Up to you! Talk to them first. I'm in Oregon so shipping won't take long at all! No sales tax either ;)

FMIL: here is the link, the HD foundation is exclusive to Sephora. http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P217905&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4028. It provides building coverage (medium to full) and feels light. The finished look is very flawless!

MEOCAT ------ do you know how accurate the shade indicators are on the sephora website?  I live nowhere even remotely close to Sephora to go in a find my shade but really want to order the HD foundation for my wedding.  I know that most times the shade indicators on the web are totally off.

If it is any help in selecting a color, I wear LM Tinted Moisturizer in Nude and MUFE HD in 120.  I can never tell what color to wear based on the swatches online.

well, I actually prefer mineral make-up (but not bare essentials--just not for my skin, hehe). I feel mineral make-up sits better on my skin but if I had to use liquid foundation, then the HD one is the one I like. There's another thread about a Dior one!!  Careful about bare minerals (or certain other mineral make-up lines) because it has titanium oxide (or something like that) which will cause a light casting on your face in pictures.  It is not flash photo friendly.

mizbiz, I don't think the swatches online are good indicators! What do you currently use now?

Meo-  I used Bare Minerials, and yes it caused a white casting on my face!  I also got a really bad allergic reaction to me.

I really like the Makeup Forever HD.  It's really light, and looks good in pictures!

Soon2b-  I hope you find the right shade!

Right now I'm using Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Mineral foundation in golden glow (a lot of people haven't heard of it).  I love it but thought I might want something heavier for the wedding day????  I don't know.

I've heard rave reviews about Make Up Forever mat velvet - I'm in desparate need of something to help control shinyness.  I have been using LM, but I am still a greaseball.

I'm also using Oil Control Lotion by Mac (only on areas like the far sides of my cheeks that get dried out - super crazy combo skin) and I've been using the Antishine Primer by Smashbox.

Here's the layering:

  • Oil Control Lotion

  • Antishine Primer

  • LM oil free liquid foundation

  • Mac Studio Fix powder to set

but then I have to do major touch ups and oil blotter sheets like every 2 hours still

:(
