First, welcome! This is such a supportive amazing community. I am not a military spouse, and cannot imagine what you are going through.

I can say that moving away from your family, feeling isolated and alone is hard. While my husband is here, we moved across the country for my husbands job.

Honestly? It sucks. The midwest is incredibly different from the southwest. I am having severe culture shock, which is not helping with missing home. I have yet to make friends, so I do end up speding a lot of time online. I do not know what I would do without these ladies! I also did get my degree, but we moved to a state that is just horrid for finding a teaching job, which has put me back into retail just to do SOMETHING.

Now, the good part: I do have my husband. after 7 years in a long distance relationship before the wedding, this is truly a wonderful thing. I have the luxary of quitting this job if it gets annoying enough, since I am more than qualified to find another. We got a cat. seriously keeps me sane some days.

It is very very hard to deal with change, and adjusting to new things all at once. I want you to know that yes, it does suck (as I said above). But, make sure to remember the GOOD, the Wonderful parts of your life: the reasons you did this in the first place.

It is so easy to go to that negative, scary place. Make an effort not to. Let yourself cry it out, and then do something good, something positive. I have found I really enjoy crochet, and beading.

<3 much love hun. let us know if you need anything! I know we do have a miliary wives group, I will also try to find that.

Welcome to project wedding! Check out the above group link that Aggie Bride provided.

I am currently serving in the Navy Reserves. I was on active duty for seven years and my ex husband was also active duty in the Navy. I got off active duty because they were going to station him in California and I was going to have to stay in Maryland. Becoming a military spouse opposed to being the military member was a hard transition for me and being in California so many miles away from my family in Michigan and all the friends I left behind in Maryland was harder! As soon as we got to California, my ex husband was sent on deployment. I was all alone in a new place with no family, friends or support, newly married and feeling lost. Once I found a job, that helped a lot! They became my family and I made friends with other military wives. This helped eased the transition. Talking to family and friends at home daily was my mantra and kept me sane! I miss my co-workers immensely! We use to go to tea houses during lunch and go to poetry readings in the evening. I am back in Michigan and there are no tea houses!!! Become involved in the community and find some new and amazing things in South Carolina to do so when DH comes home, you can experience it with him!

If you ever need a new friend, you have one in me!
